O's youth movement takes another step forward
The Orioles, as announced on Wednesday night, recalled promising outfielder Nolan Reimold today and have put him in the lineup for tonight's series opener against the Kansas City Royals.
Reimold will be in left field, and you have to believe that if the team was not going to play him regularly out there, Andy MacPhail would have called up someone like Oscar Salazar instead. No word on any further roster moves yet, though I still believe either Luke Scott or Adam Jones could end up on the 15-day DL.

hope he doesn't get too comfortable since i think pie should defenitly be the one getting at bats and playing time at left onces a-jones is okay.
but who knows, nolan might just be ready to be an everyday player :) we'll see how it turns out :)

Any idea what the O's plan to do with Moeller when Wieters gets called up in the next month or is their enough legitimate concern that he's not going to be called up before September with his sub-par performance. It'd be nice if we could get some prospect even if it is low level for Moeller.

Pete's reply: I doubt they'll have much trade leverage since they'll have to release him to make room.

pretty weak lineup tonight, without Jones and Scott they might struggle to score much this week.

Is Pie now hitting his way back into the lineup or is he now hitting his way into a trade? Is he getting lucky or is he now rounding into form? Either way, he has been hitting the ball good in May....

Keep the youth movement rolling. The season is over. Time for some rookies to audition for next year. Newsflash, the O's are going to finish in last place. Who would have guessed it?
So they finally bring up Reimold, who was hitting .394 with 9HR's in just 30 some games. If they don't keep him up, they are crazy. This has to be the most painful process of rebuilding, wanting to see your prospects move up quicker.
MacPhail needs to do a little cleanup before the trade deadline. He needs to find Huff and Luke Scott a home. Get something for them while you can. Huff will be gone when he is a free agent. Luke would be good off the bench for us. But I am sure they could get something decent for him. When they bring up the prospects, they need to keep stockpiling so it only makes sense to get something or nothing. The future of the team will look more like this:
2B Roberts
CF Jones
RF Markakis
LF Reimold
C Weiters
1B Snyder
DH Montanez
3B Scott Moore
SS Izturis
Off the bench, I would have Wiggington, Pie, Justin Turner (AAA), Salazar, and Zaun (or another backup C).
Starting Pitching
Guthrie
Bergensen
Patton
Tillman
Arreita
Koji is constantly needing extra days off. This could be solved just by moving him to where he should be. Eaton, Hendrickson, and Hill should be taken out after they prove that they do not belong. They are running out of chances and it is just a matter of time.
If the O's want to be a young, up and coming team, they have to bring up their young players. What a concept.
Relief
Hill (LHP)
Koji
Bass
Erbe
Sherrill (LHP)
Perez(LHP)
Johnson
Ray
If we bring up the young pitchers, we need to overhaul the bullpen also. Koji would be better used as a reliever. Rich Hill could be good for long relief and he is a lefty. Erbe has had bad luck in decisions, but has pitched lights out. Realistically he could be an outsider looking in on a rotation spot since they are loaded with talent. Put him in the bullpen. With an ERA under 1.00 you have to give him a shot. Wilfrido Perez is at AA and has an ERA at 0.00. I wonder why no one has mentioned anything about this guy. Can you get more info?
I would not pay to watch the O's lose right now. If they put a product out on the field that resembles my lineup, then I would pay to see them lose. The recent success of Bergensen shows that maybe it is time to move some of these players up. I don't know about you, but I make sure to watch Bergensen pitch since I find it exciting to see how good he can be. When Eaton or Hendrickson is pitching, I have no interest or desire to watch. But that is just me...
