Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in
The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.

Good for Andino, but beating Halladay is no easy task, as his 8-1 (soon to be 9-1) record indicates.
It's a shame Hill got roughed up so bad, his first two starts looked so promising. Oh well, yet another last-game-of-the-series loss.

Damn! I'm feeling pretty sheepish about writing this game off so soon. O's down 8-3 in the 8th, I figured this one was practically in the books.
Halladay won't get the win no matter how it turns out now, and Andino once again did the job. Having the O's pull this off would look a whole lot like turning a corner to this fan.

What a great "team" game today Schmuckster, I think the whole team is a bit energized by the youth coming up. Huff starts off the 9th with a hit, let's get this sweep guys!

On behalf of myself and every other Orioles fan eating their feet this year, I'd like to apologize to Danys Baez.
I didn't think he had anything left, and while he hasn't been invincible, he's been clutch when we need him. Cheers Danys!

I would have preferred that Wigginton even with his struggles, pinch hit for Moller and not Zaun. But I guess that saves him for....a long game?
Hope we can pull this one out.
Wieters may have to Close the game Friday like he did in College. Lots of Pitchers getting used today.

Really great comeback! But I just saw Nolan get a phantom called 3rd strike. My question to you is: out of all the umpires in the major leagues, what % do you feel are major league umpires - 5% - 8% - 10%?
The umpiring is truly pathetic.

Spoke too soon...

I think a previous poster said it right the first time re: Baez I too was one of those who thought he might be one of the first on the Greyhound out of town. As the other poster said, while he hasn't been great, he's been better than most out of the pen and FAR better than I ever thought he might be. Nice to see the O's get one today, esp. since our new LF'er was the hero. Now, WHO in their right mind would claim Pie off waivers and give him a roster spot?? Send him down, if some idiot does claim him good luck to both.
