Roberts returns
Brian Roberts was back in the clubhouse after returning from the World Baseball Classic and staying out a couple more days recovering from an upper respiratory infection. He said he battled it throughout the weekend in Los Angeles, though it certainly didn't show in his performance.
Nevertheless, he said the WBC experience surpassed his expectations.
"I was excited about it to begin with,'' he said, "but I didn't know how cool it was until I got there. Everybody got along so well. It meant more to the guys than I expected."
How did it compare with his All-Star experiences?
"The All-Star Game, you are competing as a team and obviously you want to win, but it's not the be-all and end-all. There are a whole lot of other variables in the All-Star Game"
Was the WBC experience a plus or minus in his preparation for the regular season?
"Early on in spring training, you kind of go through the motions,'' he said. "It's hard to take it too seriously, because if you don't get a hit, it's not the end of the world. For me, to kick it into gear was great. I haven't played in September and October in games that matter. I wanted to see how I would perform in a win-or-go-home situation. To have that in spring training, I think that was as helpful to me as anything."

It's good to have our infield back. Poor B'Rob finally gets a taste of real baseball and comes back to this pitching nightmare. It would be enough to make anyone sick.
Off subject; How did the F.O. ever agree to paying Baez so much money. Six mil a year for a guy that has career stats comparable to Heathcliff Slocum. Does he have pictures of someone in compromised positions?

Pete's reply: It obviously wasn't a good signing, but I give Andy credit for not reminding us every day that he wasn't here when it happened.

Everybody is getting there wish today, as the fan favorite is on the mound. I am from the old school in that i was always told be careful what you wish for. All kidding aside i hope somebody steps up and earns a spot instead of just going by the process of elimination

It's good that B-Rob had a good experience and that he got the chance to show others what he can do in a setting like this, plus get some recognition at this level.
But it's good to have him back. I hope he has a great season.
