Orioles: Nick's a dad
Nick Markakis has been on pins and needles for the past week or so, waiting for his first child to be born. The waited ended late yesterday afternoon, when he and his wife greeted their new son, whose name is Taylor.

Peter, let me tell you what the rotation/pen will look like. And let me tell you what I would do if I were MacPhail
1) Guthrie
2) Uehara (though if we could get a guy like Martinez he would fit in right here. Ponson looked good in WBC play but unfortunately he has burned his bridge and probably is not welcome here even though I would not mind. I am a big Seahawks fan so look up Koren Robinson's story and you'll see why I would not mind Sidney haha)
3) Hill (only if healthy; if not I definitely see us getting another veteran)
4) Baez
5) Penn
Pen:
Sherrill
Ray
Johnson
Hendrickson
Sarfate
Walker
Perez
(Pauley is gone unless he clears, and Albers/Patton just need time to heal up. Albers should definitely just get the surgery over with and use this season to get back to 100% rehabbing)
Walker needs to be traded. I do not see that happening though but once he has a Mike DeJean first couple of appearances Liz is first to arrive. I don't think the club will open the season with 13 pitchers but it will happen soon after the start of the season and Liz will be first to come up. Your thoughts Schumcktastic?

Congrats to Nick, but following along with the pitching theme, I agree wholeheartedly with this morning's article about pursuing Pedro. He looked great in the WBC and I'd love to see us make him a reasonable offer.

I think people are underestimating Eaton, I know he's not great, but appears to be healthy and WILL be the 3 or 4 starter on this year's team..

This is best described as riveting sports blogging. On a side note, do you happen to know the cost of a peck of asparagus, or is it a bushel? Also, does Brian Roberts eat mangoes.

Pete's reply: I realize it wasn't riveting, but I passed it along anyway. I'm pretty much off today, but came back to defend myself against your blatant charge of not being riveting. In fact, I'm going down to the local sheet metal shop now to do some riveting and prove you completely wrong.
