Top 2008 draft choice Brian Matusz continues to impress. He just finished three very strong innings in which he gave up just one hit. In his first exhibition appearance on Saturday, he gave up a hit and a walk over 1 2/3 innings and struck out three.
Chris Ray also has pitched today, giving up one hit in a scoreless fifth inning. Wilfrido Perez is warming up for the ninth.

Thanks for all the updates. I left there over the w/end to come back to 9 inches of snow in Richmond. Too bad one more week wasn't in the plans.
It sounds like a-rod is out until mid May Does Melvin have a no trade or does he have a chance to be dealt?

I know it's only Spring Training but I'm loving what I'm reading from you and Jeff and the rest. Yes, we could still finish in last but I could see the Birds finishing as high as 3rd and with a 0.500 record if a few breaks go our way.
I've got the 3-game set in Seattle the 1st week on June penciled in my schedule and I can't wait. Great city, great food, great stadium and a chance to see Jr. Griffey play. Pete, if you travel with the team for this West Coast swing, I'll buy you dinner one night at your favorite Seattle restaurant!
