Rave-TV trumps 'Skins

Take a look at Jeff Barker's story today on the front of the sports page about the possibility that Redskins fans in Washington could miss the beginning of the 'Skins' 4:15 p.m. game if the Ravens game against the Miami Dolphins runs long.

It isn't going to be pretty if the Ravens game runs long or is a repeat of last year's game and goes into overtime. Of course, Redskins fans, after what the Browns did to the defending world champion New York Giants on Monday night, maybe you should pre-empt yourselves and watch the Home Shopping Network instead. I hear Dan Snyder has subdivided his ego and is selling timeshares.

Schmuck on the air: Be sure and listen to the Peter Schmuck Show today at noon on WBAL (1090 AM). If you're out of the area, you can go to WBAL.com and click on the "Listen Live" icon.

Couldn't agree more! "Hell" to the Redskins.......

well consideingr that we got force fed 12 years of their god awful brand of football after the colts left I think they can shut up an deal with it.

In that 12 year period, that "god awful brand of football" won the Redskins three Super Bowls. Shut up and deal with that, Markus!

I'm from Baltimore but of age when I was too young to remember the Colts in any real way and grew up a Skins fan. I have never understood the hatred of the Skins from my Baltimore brothers.

because,david....the skins owner (jack kent cooke) and the nfl commish (tagliabue) had a secret deal to keep expansion out of baltimore, and let skins market in baltimore

the haterd comes from the owners of the redskins . inthe 1950,s marshell was the owner and did not want baltimore to have a team. lack kent cook also tried his best to do the same. so i think it stems mainly from that.

Is this all you guys have to write about. Who gives a rats-ass about any team in D C. The schmuck (sorry Pete) that moved the Bullets should rot in Hell with his team, whatever they're called.

Bunch of Northern Virginia whiners. I hope the game goes into double OT. FedEx Field should be dismantled and dumped in Springfield where it belongs. After all, it is a NVA team.

David, it's the longest 38 miles in the world!

We have always hated the skins
They are like the red headed step child The other Maryland team
The last thing we wanted to see in those 12 years without footbal here was for the redskins to be on. I would rather watch Golf and I hate Golf. Sorry Skin fans deal with it
We had to deal with it for 12 god awful years which is why I originally bought the NFL sunday package

Get over it Skins fans. Use the radio if your game is pre-empted by the Ravens.

Baltimore fans had the Redskins shoved down their throat for years after the Colts left town.

The skins fans in DC are getting screwed. If a Skins game ran over and blocked out portions of a boring Ravens game on WJZ, you would be pissed too. I just do not understand the Baltimore area's hatred for the Redskins. A lot of the fans adopted the skins as their team after the colts left. Then the Ravens came in and everyone hates the skins.

With any luck, the Ravens win the game on OT and by the time the skins get on tv, they are down be a td or more. But I wold actually rather blow out the fins and let the widdle wedskins fans see their team lose.

Pete,

Were going to have part ways with "Of course, Redskins fans, after what the Browns did to the defending world champion New York Giants on Monday night, maybe you should pre-empt yourselves and watch the Home Shopping Network instead." I guess if I were a fan of the hapless Ravens, I would have the HSN on speed dial, but as the Redskins are #5 in the NFL Power ratings and the Ravens rank just ahead of Oakland, Seattle and Kansas City, I would actually think any self righteous network would go with the winner. Much like Peter Angelos said about DC, they are no Baseball town, the very same should and could be said of Baltimore when it comes to football!

Folks from Baltimore hate DC because they have an inferiority complex.

After the Colts left town, The commissioner almost demanded that Baltimore become Redskin fans and now Baltimore was Redskin territory. We as Colt fans vowed from that day on to never cheer for the skins.See how many times Tagliabue shuned Baltimore for exspansion. When DC and NVA refused the skins a new stadium site, Maryland came to the rescue. This is why Art Modell was allowed to move his team here.
Tagliabue kept saying that that Baltimore was in Redskin territory until they needed us. Now two of the biggest franchises in the NFL play in little old Maryland while the NY teams play in a different state. go figure.

Why are this many Deadskin fans even reading a Baltimore related website...unless they secretly have a penchant for the Ravens?

I hate the Redskins because they suck...oh, boo friggin hoo u hav to miss 2 seconds of ur game to watch a better team (Ravens) play and don't get to watch ur skins? How about when we didnt have an NFL team and we had to watch your crappy team stink up the field. GOOD RIDDANCE!

I can't believe that all you dumb ass ravens fans would rather prefer the Browns to win then the Skins. The Browns are in that weak ass division you play in.

Only a "category 5 moron", for instance, Sarah Palin, would be delusional enough to believe that the skins will end this season ranked in the top 5 of any positive NFL statistical category.

..............................................................................................
Pete's reply: What the hell does Sarah Palin have to do with this? I mean, what exactly makes you qualified to rate the intelligence of someone you've never met?

Pete, thanks for putting down that "category 6" jerk, Rich.

As for, "Folks from Baltimore hate DC because they have an inferiority complex. " you've got it a 180 degrees wrong. Having worked in DC for 20 years I can tell you they have a SUPERIORITY complex over Baltimore wouldn't believe.

About Peter Schmuck
Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.
