Ravens reverb: Not piling on C-Mac
Don't misunderstand. Chris McAlister is a great cornerback and a big part of what has made the Ravens the standard by which other defenses have measured themselves for much of the past decade. I don't think the Ravens -- or the fans -- should bail on him because he had a tough game against the Colts nine days ago.
It just appears that John Harbaugh is trying to get a handle on him and this is probably a convenient time to do that, with teams like the Dolphins and Raiders bunched on the schedule. Remember, one of the common complaints about Brian Billick -- true or not -- was that he let the inmates run the asylum. Harbaugh cannot let that perception take hold, and he obviously knows that.
McAlister, however, is a prideful guy, so who knows if Harbaugh reels him in or loses him completely. Kind of up to Chris.

I will continue my rant...sit his butt on the bench. I love that so many support this cry-baby/head case. Just like many stars and/or has-been's, some of them let this ego take hold that can be poison to a team. Not to compare Chris to T.O., but some guys think they know best and can buck the boss whenever he pleases. You can call it pride I guess....I call it lack of RESPECT. Something he needs to get a handle on if he wants to play. This is widespead in the NFL (and in pro sports). I just hope ownership is behind the coach on matters like this.
I am tired of the blind support we give to 'talented' athletes and their bad behavior. If he puts up a fuss, you can't put him on the field...it's not fair to the other guys - and the FANS! Ya know?

I would agree with you if the coach said it was for bad behavior. Harbaugh said he benched him so he could put the best 11 on the field. If he thinks sitting Cmac for Frank Walker is a good idea, we are in trouble.

whos gonna cover Edwards, plaxico, C Johnson/ S Moss/ H Ward/ TO?
He's a distraction, but he is good. Best we got by a long shot.
We see what we can get in the offseason, until then, put up with his crap to an extent.

Why do I feel like his knee is worse than anyone is letting on? I get the feeling that the coaching staff is pissed that C-Mac refused to undergo knee surgery in the offseason. (I believe he got it scoped, but that may not be enough)

It's fine if he sat out that one game, but we saw what happened last year with both Rolle and him out, it was pretty terrible. If this was the injury than fine but if there is bad blood between him and Harbugh, that we don't know about, get it resolved. They need C-Mac, Walker did a decent job last sunday but theres no way we're better off with him as a starter.
