Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in
The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.

you still think the Trojans are gonna make it back to the championship game? And that Alabama is going to survive long enough to do the same? Lets be realistic here. USC plays a bunch of nobodies in the PAC 10, and Alabama is going to lose soon, just wait till they face a good team again. Sure, they beat Georgia and a couple other good teams, but I don't think it's going to last. Even SEC biased ESPN announcers don't think Bama is gonna make it. I think it's clear at this point in the season that a Big 12 team and a Big 10 team will be playing each other.
If Penn State wins, they jump to #2, if OSU wins they'll jump into the top 5 probably, or at least ahead of Penn State. If Texas wins, they stay at #1, if Ok State wins, they'll jump Bama and move to the #2 or #1 spot. If Penn State and Ok State win, they will be your new #1 and #2.
All that to say, USC doesn't have a shot of getting back in there. There is just too much talent in the Big 12 and too much bias for the Big 10 and SEC this year. In a perfect world, we would see Texas and Oklahoma play again, not for the conf title, but for the national title. In my perfect world, the Mountaineers wouldn't have waited until their 7th game to remember how to score 30 points against a BCS team. But, we don't live in a perfect world.

I can tell you that I don't think Bama can run the table. They just haven't been that consistent and the had some recent injuries to key players. The Buckeyes are going to beat the Nittany Lions. They have the best running back in the nation and they are facing a team that just gave up 200 yards to Michigan. That is not very good at all. Plus they are 0-7 all time at Ohio Stadium since joining the Big Ten. As for my other predictions Oklahoma establishes the running game early and shocks Texas. And Texas Tech has to much of a passing offense for the Kansas Jayhawks to contain.
Go Buckeyes
