When I'm wrong, I'm wrong

liz2.jpgJust want to apologize for my erroneous prediction in my "Today's Orioles lineup" entry before the game. I predicted that Radhames Liz would give up four hits over five innings on the way to an unlikely Sunday victory. Turns out, it took Liz seven innings to give up his fourth hit and he ended up surrendering five over eight shutout innings.

I believe accuracy is the cornerstone of the wild prediction, so I cannot in good conscience take credit for nailing Liz's solid performance.

My bad.

You should be apologizing, Pete!! What an egregious error! Roch would have never let us down like that!!

Just kidding, friend, just kidding. Nice job on this one - you got any lotto numbers you wanna throw my way?

*checking your NFL picks*

On second thought...

Yeah, baby! Eight shutout innings for Liz. All the taunters like to bash Liz when he had bad outings. Not too many of them here today. GO LIZ!!!

Pete,

You should apologize but for your comment yesterday that DCAB was better than Liz. After today I would have to say Liz has a much greater upside and DCAB is no longer a prospect, just a never was!

Pete,

Where do we go from here? We have one quality starting pitcher, a second baseman in the last year of his contract, an aging thirdbaseman in the last year of his contract, a solid OF with Luke Scott as a DH and Huff as our everyday 1B, that said we need 4 starters, formulate a bullpen from all the pitching parts we have, but we still need a shortstop, catcher and the depth in back-ups.

That said this winter we really need to consider dumping Ramon, Walker and Payton, giving Weiters the job behind the plate, getting a SS (Orlando Cabrera would be an improvement) and go out and get some Starting Pitching. If our guys pan out, everyone always wants pitching we can trade from our strengths if they ever materialize, but we need 3 guys that consistently go 7 innings!

well pete, looks like I was right and you were wrong -yet again- as the titans blew out the bengals. I hear WBAL what's me to fill in for Steve Davis next time rather than you.

Pete's reply: I blew that one, so I'll be happy to let you work for me any time y ou want.

Whew! Finally something positve from a starter. I was so hoping that Cabrera would be one of those who pulled it together for a strong finish, but it will be stunning if DC is with the O's next year.
Liz took the bull by the horns today, lets hope he can do it again, with Guthrie that would give us two possible bright spots heading into next year.
There's still time to see more youngsters show us something, c'mon guys, this is your shot to be noticed.

Great outing by Liz. What was different?

I honestly think Olson should think about hypnosis after reading DT remarks. Couldn't hurt

.............................................................................................
Pete's reply: That would be a switch, since he's been putting us to sleep for awhile now.

Your Mea Culpa is accepted, however your notable absence from the front row of the press box isn't!
Where the heck were you?
Or did I miss you?
A game just isn't the same without yelling up to someone in the box-now that they moved Roch up a level, you are "da-man".

See ya for the Tampa Bay Series.
By the way, "What-a-mess" Liz, as we used to call him, has temporarily redeemed himself until his next start. If he can perform even close to today, we'll forget about the "What-a-mess" and give him the respect that he deserves. But for today, he was spectacular.

...............................................................................................
Pete's reply: I couldn't make it to the press box. I was busy calling pitches for Liz from the dugout.

Pete, I heard that Radhames Liz was very upset about your blog and the only way that he will forgive you, is if you attend the MASN camp with Jim Hunter so should we be looking forward to your "how to hide your hatred when you rivalries come to town" segment in the near future?

.............................................................................................
Pete's reply: I'm willing, but only if I can make up my own home run call.

Im still not sold. I've become so tainted and skeptical of the O's young arms. When was the last time we developed a good young Starter(and didn't trade it away)?

Big Z's NoNo wasn't as impressive , after all it was the third one of the year. Excuse me Pirate's Official Scorer.

and puffery & self-aggrandization is a cornerstone of blogging!

I'm not trying to rain on Liz's parade, but it does help when the ump has a big strike zone and the border calls are given to the pitcher. Of course, the pitcher still has to take advantage of it and throw enough legitimate strikes early in the count to get the close ones later, which has been a problem. In some of D-Cab's starts early in the season where he had low walks and high strikeouts he got the benefit of a generous strike zone. I have seen the O's pitchers get squeezed plenty enough in enough games this year. But that first pitch strike makes such a HUGE difference, including in how later pitches might get called. Good job, Radhammes, that's how you take advantage of the situation.

Following that sterling pitching performance, our young pitcher will henceforth be referred to as Mr. Radhames Elizabeth. Great job.

Keith Rowe hit a grand slam with his comment. I'm afraid we're in for another "11 Year Plan" unless things(money, money, money) change rapidly.

Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.
