Congratulations: To Lou Montanez, who won the Eastern League Triple Crown. He won the batting title easily, edged teammate Nolan Reimold (26 to 25) for the home run title and tied Akron's Wes Hodges with 97 RBI.

That's a great accopmplishment for Lou. Maybe someone should bring it up to Trembley and ask him why we have to keep watching Payton and Millar.

The fact that the Orioles had three minor leaguers, Weiters(27), Montanez(26), and Reimold(25) hit that many homeruns is a major improvement in itself. When's the last time this organization had three guys in the upper levels of the minors hit 25+ homeruns?

Pete's reply: I hope that's a rhetorical question, because it's going to be very hard to look up.

Ok Jones is back, please tell me why Payton is getting at bats? There is 0% he gets resigned by the team. I am not a Payton hater but it makes no sense to give him playing time over younger players still under team control.

I have to agree! Why is Payton playing LF while Montanez sits. In a month Payton is gone and Montanez could be part of the future for this team.

Trembley to me seems to pick favorites and they play weather it makes sense or not.

It's not like they are in the running for anything but last place in the East.

Pete's reply: I don't think Payton is a "favorite" of Trembley.

When does Bowie start their postseason? I'm anxious to see how they do in the playoffs!

.............................................................................................
Pete's reply: The first two games in Bowie are on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

I stand by my ideas to trade Roberts and Guthrie and keep Aubrey Huff.
I can see keeping Guthrie, but he's still going to bring the most in return besides Roberts.
As far as Aubrey Huff having some kind of career year. Yes, he did have a couple of off years, but if you take a sample from say 2003 thru 2005
here are his numbers
Avg. 290
HR 28
RBI 101
That's three years.
This is NOT Brady Anderson. He's 32 years old. Stick him at first base next year and I would guess you would see numbers comparable to this year and the above mentioned three year period.
This club needs more depth and we can't afford to keep our two most maketable players (Roberts and Guthrie).

Its Sept. 1st, where are the callups?

Are they trying to wait for Friday?

..............................................................................................
Pete's reply: They've got to clear space on the 40-man and it may take a day or two to get through that process. Don't know if they'll leave the Baysox alone until after the playoffs. I think probably not.

Damn shame it ain't no room in the O's starting lineup for any kind of Triple Crown winner. We get to watch Payton for the rest of the year. Whoopee! Lou 'The Diamond' Montanez should be taking 'Payton's Place'. Someone please wake up Trembley and tell him to sniff the coffee.

I'm with Jeff. Let Payton sit and let Lou get the rest of the ABs until Mora comes back. Or even after Mora gets back. Let the over 35 guys sit for awhile.

Not to be nit picky but by tieing Hodges for the RBI crown does it still give him the triple crown...

..............................................................................................
Pete's reply: Based on precedent, the answer is yet. Carl Yastrzemski won it in 1967, even though he tied Harmon Killebrew with 44 home runs.

Payton starting over Montanez is an f'n joke.

I have to agree with the remark about Payton. He has been a constant in the lineup since Jones went on the DL. Why not give Montanez a chance to play everyday to see if he's the real deal? Also; aren't the Orioles going to call up anyone from the minors for September? It's time to give some new faces a real chance to perform. The same old faces (Liz, Burres, Walker, Olson) keep providing the same sub par results. It should be obvious at this point that most of the pitching staff is either washed up or not major league caliber.

I am sure that you have received multiple responses that are the same as mine, but why is Dave Trembly playing Jay Payton instead of Lou Montanez? Payton has no future with the club, and Montanez deserves the opportunit to prove himself at the major league level. Additionally, Oriole fans would, I strongly believe, much rather see Montanez play than Payton. Peter, please enlighten me with your thoughts on Trembly's logic for playing Payton instead of Montanez.

..............................................................................................
Pete's reply: I think up until today it was because Montanez does not belong in CF. Now, I think he's not in there because it's Fenway Park and that wall is something you need to get used to. I'm sure you'll see him out there in a day or two.

I agree entirely with Jeff's comment, which brings me back to my doubt about Trembley's managerial skills. What possible reason is there to sit Montanez so we can watch Payton reprise his usual performance? It is frustrating to be an O's fan and have to put up with more Payton.

Forget Payton. Let's see Montanez. He still has a future.

I agree. I think Trembly needs to go. We are going to be a 90 loss team that didn't develop its young players.

Didn't anyone tell Adam to take it easy coming back ? Guess he didn't see DT's "take" sign.

Who does he think he is ? Roy Hobbs ?

Thank you, Mr. Bavasi.

I Think They Should Bring Up The Whole Double A Starting Staff After Their Playoffs Are Over. They Have To Be Better Than What We Currently Have.

Wall Schmall. What a bunch of crap! Trembley has an excuse for everything. How ya gonna get used to the wall by sitting on the bench? Montanez should be out there every game till the season is over. Now that Jones is back, Payton can resume his role as 4th outfielder.

Andy should stop by and have a talk with Mr. Trembley and I'm not talking about contract renewals.

.............................................................................................
Pete's reply: You asked for my opinion. Dave didn't tell anybody that. I am not there and I'm assuming that's the reason. You might have noticed that Lou has had some struggles in the outfield. Trembley may not want to put him in a position to lose confidence in his defensive ability, but I'm just speculating.

Yes, Trembley has to go, but only if that managerial genius DAVE agrees to take over.
