Bowie still riding high
The Double-A Baysox move into the Eastern League playoffs this week, but they aren't finished tearing up the Southern Division. Nolan Reimold hit his 24th home run and top prospect Matt Wieters hit his 12th since moving up from Frederick in a 7-3 victory at Harrisburg yesterday. Chris Tillman pitched five solid innings to finish with an 11-4 record and 3.18 ERA.
Tillman is considered one of the brightest pitching prospects in the organization, but he's not coming up to the big club in September and Orioles officials are not projecting him to reach the majors next season.
The Baysox already have wrapped up the division title and home-field advantage in the postseason. They'll play one more regular season game today before opening the Southern Division playoffs against Akron at Prince Georges Stadium on Wednesday.
Chris Heintz homered and Gary Knotts pitched well yesterday, but the Norfolk Tides fell, 2-1, to the Richmond Braves. The Tides close out their regular season schedule in Richmond this afternoon.
Brandon Tripp hit a three-run homer as the Frederick Keys rallied for four runs in the eighth inning to score a 6-4 victory over Winston-Salem. The Keys, who already have set a single-season attendance record at Grove Stadium, also wrap up their regular season today.

Comments
Under the old regime, Tillman would already be up here losing confidence.
Then Flanagan would have resigned Jay Payton to a 4 year extension.
Hey, he may not be the brightest exec but he sure is a snazzy dresser

Tillman should be in their ML plans for next year. He is their best chance to promote someone from within their system to their ML rotation. It only has 1 starter (I've dismissed Daniel Cabrera). Moving Johnson to the rotation fills spot #2 and still 3 to go. Better than Bergeson (supposedly just so-so stuff) or Hernandez (still walks too many - guess he fits right into this squad though). Only Matusz might be closer to being ready and he probably does not get called up until June/July. They are not going to sign multiple starting free agent pitchers to fill the holes so Tillman is probably their best option. Certainly better than trying Liz or Olson again unless they have an off season epiphony as to how to throw strikes.
