Trembley fumes, Cabrera apologetic

It was one moment of frustration and disrespect, but it could cost reliever Fernando Cabrera, who showed up manager Dave Trembley on the mound last night by flipping the ball to him on the way off the field after giving up back-to-back home runs in Tampa's seven-run fourth inning.

One of those homers was a grand slam by Ben Zobrist after Lou Montanez misplayed a fly ball in the outfield, so the frustration was understandable. Cabrera just took it out on the wrong person and apparently heard about it from a couple members of the coaching staff when he got to the dugout.

"He was frustrated that he gave up the home runs, and he thought that Montanez could have caught the ball,'' Trembley said. "But still, that's not an excuse for what he did. I'll deal with it, and when I say I'll deal with it, it won't mean I'll ignore it. I'll deal with it, which means I'll do something about it."

Cabrera regretted it afterward, and -- with a 5.33 ERA -- he's vulnerable to the possible consequence, which could be either a fine or a plane ticket.

"That was just a bad action that I do," Cabrera said. "It's not something that I feel good doing. It was all frustration."

Fernando might be sitting with Daniel. You don't disrespect the manager by flipping him the ball. I can understand Fernando was frustrated but he has to control his emotions. Deal with it another way. I don't see him pitching much the rest of the way.

Peter,

The wheels are falling off on all accounts! Mora goes down, we get shut out by the only team we finished ahead of last year in the final standings. It appears they are heading in the right directions and NOTHING is working right for us except Wieters and by the sound of it with Hernandez under contract again next year at about 8 Mil we shouldn't expect to see him next year either. Guthrie looked like a tired pitcher early last night! I really think we need to fly against Andy Mac's philosophy and go bye a 1-2 inning eater pitcher such as CC or Ben Sheets. The failure of our starters to go 7 innings destroyed our pen this year.

I'd be upset too. Hell Trembley should want to have players that have emotions like that. Failure should not be an option.

Anyone else notcie that even though Mora has not been a top 3B in years he still is qualified as a Type A Free Agent? Too bad he ain't a FA.
