Mick's take: Can you guys find someone other than Millar to quote? I'd actually like to hear funny asides from Orioles, not Red Sox.
My take: That's going to be tough, since the funniest guys on the team other than Millar are Aubrey Huff (Rays), Jamie Walker (Tigers) and George Sherrill (Mariners). Guess I'm going to have to get some of the young guys to start watching Comedy Central.

Is Jordan taking sense of humour and ability to engage in witty repartee into account when drafting these kids or not?
We really can't afford to have to sign all our funny guys as free agents, sometimes you just have to draft for need, even in baseball.

Pete's reply: I agree. They need to scout more six-tool players -- the sixth tool., of course, being a good sense of humor.

Well if I'm ever in Baltimore I'll be happy to accept a hug if you're offering. The link title kinda gives me the impression you might provide services ala Lucy of Peanuts fame.
Just do what ya can with the guys please, maybe bring a joke book to warm em up.
Hugs, Yankee/Sox Hater Mick

After reading your colleague's article today (Steele) about the Os near .500 season, I think it should be mentioned that whatever the season's totals might end up at, this team deserves a ton of credit. Maybe they'll be other Os teams during this down period of the last 10 years who ended with better stats or records, but the redemption this team has done might be incalcuable. We might not know for a while. For me it's more about a change (or return) of an attitude. We pay lip service to the "Oriole Way" a lot around these parts, some deserved, some not. In the last 10 years more "not." Though I think this team has done a lot toward taking steps back to that tradition. There's more fundamentals, heart, and hustle here than we've seen in a while. And, perhaps they have helped lay the foundation for later years when we can fully return to that Way.
For me I believe we are going to see a shift in the way the Orioles are regarded in the upcoming years, starting this offseason. MacPhail has obviously made a major difference. We can't rest on our laurels yet. We have to coninue but I sincerely have hope on many levels right now. I'm an avid follower of the minors and the MLB team and there just are too many signs of life on every level right now to single out a few. The more obvious ones might be guys like Markakis and Jones and Wieters (who will probably be labeled as the consensus best overall prospect in baseball this offseason) but there is truly a ton, esp. in pitching. With the good performances of key vets this season I expect this offseason to be truly interesting. Probably not as exciting as the past one, but, I expect good value trades and moves. Keep it coming Os!
Just had to get that out.

The reason you quote Millar so often is simple.... When there's only one fat piece of Ham on the table, ya gotta go with it.
