Penn removed with injury
Good info from Dickey, who posted that Hayden Penn was hit by a bat shard and had to be removed from his start after 2/3 of an inning. Orioles beat writer Jeff Zrebiec confirmed with an Orioles official that Penn left with an injury.
Nobody, however, is saying whether he was slotted for Tuesday or whether this precludes him from making that start. From here, it's looking more and more like Lance Cormier will be the starter, maybe by default.
Penn's star-crossed career goes on and the Orioles can't get a break either. Going into Anaheim with three inexperienced starters (Sarfate, whoever, Garrett Olson) is like going to Michael Vick's house with a poodle.

Hey Pete,
I don't know if you were around the Orioles in the 70's or not. However, I remember seeing in the Sun one day in what I remember as big letters, something like "The Inning".
If memory serves me they had 2 outs and no one on and went onto score something like 10 or more runs.
Is there any way you can check this?
Thanks,

Book: If it was in the '70s, I don't have a way of checking it here. pete

Was the Mike Vick comment really necessary?

Ringo: Necessary. No. Gratuitous. Yes. Sorry, I couldn't resist. pete

Hit by a bat shard? Geese, this poor kid just cannot catch a break. What will happen to him next, struck by a meteor? Do the baseball gods have it out for Penn?
Lets hope the O's can feast on the Mariners before going into the lions den against the Angels.

Tell me Nicky didn't get picked off 1st with a man standing on 2nd??!! Tell me that didn't happen.
And stop apologizing for Vick jokes!! That is part of the appeal of the blog. I'm a dog owner/dog lover. Get over it.

Two nights in a row an Os starter goes into the 9th?? Yeah, I know, it's the putrid Mariners, but still, way to go Olsen, way to go Guthrie!

BTW, When they loaded the bases early in the game, who would you have rather have at the plate, Scott or Payton? Not saying Payton is the answer but he does seem to thrive in those kinds of situations.

A Vick joke? Really? Why not throw in a hanging chad and Katrina joke for super topical humor.
He did some stupid, awful things. Let's just forget about him and get on with our lives.

If that's the way you feel, go right ahead. But I choose the low road. pete

Peter- I have not heard anything on Matusz. I thought this was supposed to be an easier signing than Weiters.
Also, What is the reasoning for not getting some of the minor leagers some PT with the last 50 games or so?
Ryan

Ryan, I thought so too, but there are still two weeks to sign him. It's a little early to start bringing guys up in a wholesale manner. That won't happen for two or three more weeks either.

Pete- In NO WAY should you take these ANTI-MIKE VICK jokes people seriously. He is a dispicable person who abused innocent animals for his own gain. Not to mention gamble, and lie. This is a person who's jersey my son had on his back and was looked up to. Maybe, if people do not forget about these incidents, it will prevent some other public figure from commiting these types of atrocities in the future.

Sorry, but not sure what Schmuck said that was not true.
Have no desires for him to be my dogsitter.
Some people cant handle the truth.

Another potential Penn call-up; another Penn injury to keep it from possibly happening. Star crossed or a waste of space for the O's? TBD though the feeling is the that answer is both

The Vick joke was priceless. The people who thought otherwise need to get a life.
