New kid in town

Didn't take long for Casey Bramlet to show up on the field. He replaced Joe Flacco with about 11 minutes left in the second quarter, and zipped his first pass to Daniel Wilcox for 21 yards. His second pass appeared destined to be a touchdown over the middle to Wilcox again, but the ball was tipped up in the air and eventually intercepted by Falcons safety Thomas DeCoud just short of the goal line.

Bramlet, who was claimed off waivers from the San Diego Chargers, has some history with Cam Cameron's offensive scheme, so he looked fairly comfortable running the offense one day after flying in from the West Coast.

Hoo-Boy. Another entry in the Ravens QB revolving door.

I know some people seem to want to keep Flacco on the sidelines but since Boller hasn't proven anything and I sure don't think Smith is a NFL QB, I think it is worth a shot. I certainly don't have high expectations for Flacco this year but he at least seems smart enough to avoid interceptions and not stumble around and fumbling the ball (aka Boller).
I don't see Culpepper as a great solution. Anyone you bring in will need to learn the system unless they are use to it. A number of QBs have taken their lumps the first year (notably Manning and Elway). It isn't the ideal way but this team doesn't have a #1 QB. Actually hasn't had one in their existence here in Baltimore.

Casey Bramlet!! Casey Bramlet!! The best the Ravens could FIND is Casey Bramlet!! He has not been hot since he was the University of Arizona!! I know there had to be other QBs that the Ravens could have picked up other than Casey Bramlet!
What the heck kind of illness does Smith have? What did he eat? John Hopkins couldn't get him right?
C'mon Ravens at least give the town and fans some hope before you flush the season down the toilet!

About Peter Schmuck
Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.
