Millar gets Huffy

millar2.jpgThe newest copy of the Orioles Magazine features Nick Markakis, Luke Scott and Adam Jones on the cover, which brought Kevin Millar out of his chair in the clubhouse yesterday afternoon.

"I guess Nick and Luke and Adam Jones are going to play the Red Sox all by themselves today,'' Millar chirped, for all to hear. "You guys don't need the rest of us."

It was classic Clubhouse Kevin, but he could be forgiven for noticing that the emphasis everywhere in the ballpark seems to be on the young guys, from the faces on the program to the pictures in the hallway leading to the lockerroom to the promotions in the stands.

"The gripe is, Aubrey Huff has never had a T-Shirt Day,'' Millar said. "Huff has never been on the cover of the program."

Still, it was all in fun.

"That was just today's skit,'' Millar said.

Millar has never said anything without an agenda...... bank it.

The thing about Millar is, he's just kidding around, keeping things loose. With some guys, when they are griping about things in the clubhouse it's serious, and usually complaining about them not getting favorable attention or someone else getting it instead. We're gonna miss Kevin one of these days when he is gone.

I have to agree with Milar on this one. I hadn't realized that Huff has never had a T-Shirt night or a program cover--but he deserves one. How many Tuesdays are left?

No. Unless they giving out ones with white stains on them, Huff does not deserve a Tee-shirt night.
I realize he's hitting the cover off of the ball and also contributing to the positive vibe in the locker room, But at least one resident of this horsebleep town won't forget.

Umm... hey Millaah. You guys ain't on the cover or had your own t-shirts cuz your butts are on the trading block. You have no long term future here. Get over it.

Nick, Luke, and Adam have not reffered to Baltimore as a Horse A** town in any radio interviews. Huff numbers have been great. I am glad he is helping our team. I cheer for him for doing well. But Organizations do not forget when players treat them bad.

Should O's management memory be short and reward players who have recently embarrassed the team and City.

Plus do you always put a team photo on every piece of advertising

Do Players Forgive organizations when they screw up?

Huff can have bobble head, t-shirt nights next year if he is still on our team or in his new city if he does not slam them in the off season.

His play does deserve some sort of honor. Maybe we can have Horse A** Town night. All people who come to the game get a wet sponge to throw at Huff as he takes the field.

Seriously for a second. Huff has earned my repect this year. He is earning his paycheck this year. He is playing hard. He could have mailed it in and just taken the money. I respect him for that

Dear PETE,
I've written to you before! You do a terrific job with the Callers on the Radio.
If you want to find out about the Ravens, look at my good Friend Tony Lombardi's web site at "PROFOOTBALL24x7"... I am just a casual friend of Tonys...but I know that he works very hard at his craft... as you do too..
Lets hear it for TROY SMITH tonite and wish him the BEST. If' I'm OZZIE I find a suitor for KYLE BOLLER and try to get some offensive LINE help in return.
Keep on talkin...you do a great job.

About Peter Schmuck
Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.
