Huff stuff

Aubrey Huff already has a home run and two doubles in today's game, and he'll get at least one more at-bat. The two doubles give him 39 and tie him with Nick Markakis for second on the club behind Brian Roberts. There's still a ways to go around the league today, but -- right now -- three Orioles rank in the top five in the American League in that department.

Huff continues to sizzle at the plate, even though he has a lot on his mind lately. His first child could arrive in the next few days.

Well, that makes Jamie Walker's 9th HR allowed in about 30 innings this year. Very impressive.

WE WANT ROCH BACK...YOU SUCK

Too bad the FO is too narrow minded to bring the Bowie boys up to watch.I guess it's too late now anyway. Should have been up here in early August. We need 4 starters for next year and we won't have a clue about how they could do in the majors. Instead McPhail will try to trade Roberts for pitching and destroy the offense and team chemistry in the process..

First child? I didn't know Hotel TV's could get pregnant?!

Hey Pete --It's Ryan Burton who sucks. Just keep up the good work.

Hey Ryan - if you really miss Roch that much, then go over to masnsports.com and read his blog. You show the maturity of an eighth grader with your all-in-caps whining. Anyone with half a brain and an appreciation for a sharp wit can appreciate Pete's writing. Yes, Roch was clever too - give the Sun props for hiring the lot of them, a pretty good bunch that included Roch, Peter, Zrebiec, and Connolly - but he has moved on. Follow him if you like, disagree with Pete's comments if you like, but it's idiotic to just come onto a blog and post "YOU SUCK".

Jack -

In regards to Ryan, it's not idiotic to come on a blog and post "YOU SUCK", as you pointed out earlier in your comments, it's immature. Otherwise your comments were dead-on!

Pete, me personally, I really enjoy your work. KEEP IT UP!!

Peter: Back to the subject of Huff, I'm of the opinion that even at $10 million next year he could be a investment for 2009. If the O's maintain their run scoring this year, we might be able to attract several 2nd line free agent pitchers to complement some of the youngsters.

Pete's reply: It's actually $8 million for next year and, yes, they should keep him if they can't get something good for him.

About Peter Schmuck
Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.
