Manager Dave Trembley met with his players briefly before sending them out on the field, but mostly to address administrative issues, such as upcoming autograph signings. He did, however, also go over areas that need improvement, and you can believe baserunning is one of them. He referred to it as things they need to "brush up on."
Randor Bierd threw a scoreless inning for Double-A Bowie last night. He's off today, and Trembley will talk to pitching coach Rick Kranitz tomorrow before deciding the next phase.
An announcement on Adam Loewen is expected "rather soon," Trembley said.
Jamie Walker will throw a bullpen session tomorrow and perhaps face hitters on Tuesday before the Orioles decide whether to activate him.

Comments
Guthrie, you're the stopper on this team. End the losing streak.

I think Loewen will have a career full of arm troubles. I had heard that he is a good hitter. Do you think the O's would convert him into a first baseman? Kind of like Rich Ankeil with the Cardinals (different reason of why he stopped pitching). He would be a huge target at first and if its true he can hit he could turn into a middle of the lineup guy. I would imagine he hits with power.

Folks, folks, folks. please enough with the Loewen batting nonsense. Its impossible.
Loewen is OUT OF OPTIONS! He can not be sent down to the minors for two seasons to learn to be a position player. The kid is either going to be a major league pitcher or a 26 year old retiree.

Baserunning mistakes have hurt big time this year. That is one thing that needs to be stressed constantly. Another thing is the pitchers have to stop pitching down the middle of the plate. That is where most of the HRs are coming from. They also have to stop walking hitters. Every walk they give up means another run scored. I noticed since Ramon Hernandez has been here is that he constantly jumps around and that might have something to do with the pitcher's concentration. They seem to try to throw to a moving target and that might hurt more than help.

I live in Los Angeles and catch the games on the internet. I know there is only 1 Earl of Bal'more but doesn't a manager have to go argue calls so that maybe you get the next one. It seems like we never get a CLOSE call. Even with Mora's hesitation baserunning that he was tagged above the waist NOT on his legs. How could you not argue that his feet must have touched the plate before he was tagged out. Very frustrating, I think a manager owes it to his team to stand up to them when you thibk an umpire blew a call and it is not a bad thing to once in awhile gets thrown out. Go Birds...

Go O's! Get a win and reverse this thing. Guthrie looks pretty good early. He obviously deserves more wins then he has so far. Hope we can keep him around for awhile.

Again with Millar in the 5th spot? The guys best ability is to walk so why does he hit in the heart of the order?
Guthrie again gives up runs immediately after the Orioles score for him.

Very disappointed with Guthrie today...the offense has given him a rare lead and he sucks it up.
