I thought about excluding the center fielder tonight, just to see how many of you noticed, but then I realized...ALL OF YOU WOULD NOTICE.
Matt Albers will leave the team tomorrow to visit Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala. Andrews won't make the final decision for Albers, but his opinion carries a lot of weight.
Freddie Bynum had a pretty good idea that he'd be promoted today. He was watching last night's game on television with Tike Redman when he saw Alex Cintron pull up at first base.
And finally: I stopped in The Sun building today, checked my mailbox and found an MDDC Press Association New Media third-place award for "Citizen Involvement."
As it's explained to me, the award is for demonstrating excellence in getting the community involved and communicating through the Web site. So I guess we'll all share it. I'll keep it at my house the first week, then we'll rotate.
Here's the first-place winner: http://www.delawaremoms.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?category=MOMS
And second place: http://newsweek.washingtonpost.com/onfaith/

Roch-Congradulations on your 3rd place award , i think all or most of us will vouch for you =)
Maybe we should petition the O's for holding a 'Roch Kubatko' Day at OPACY ? His Blog has done so much for the O's publicity .

Was Tike rooting for a few outfielders to pull hamstrings? I hope every person attending tonight's game doesn't post to let us all know where they will be sitting.
Roch, I will be watching the game on tv tonight. section: bar, row: stool.
Thanks for the info, Jared. At least I know you won't be at Subway tonight.

So baseball and the O's in particular, rank 3rd behind motherhood and religion? I'd say you're doing better than the home team in the AL East standings. Congrats are in order.

Having dr. Andrews name come up isn't a good sign....
Why not Huff at 3B, Scott or Payton to DH , the other in LF , so Mora gets a few days off to rethink things, take a break from it etc. He looked awful last night.
Jared, you gonna be eating a Subway sandwich too?
Congrats on your Award Roch! A bargaining chip for the next salary increase meeting perhaps?

Brian - Subway joke got old 10 years ago. But if you knew my last name is Maier, you would be making a different reference.
Roch - Isn't 3rd place the 2nd loser?
Posted by: Jared | July 1, 2008 5:14 PM
No, Jared. The Subway joke is only old to you because your name is Jared. Its still funny, brah.
Tell us all where you will be tomorrow night. Waxing your Boba Fett costume for COMICON?

Congratulations on your well-deserved award. This blog is indispensable for O's news. Also, thanks for posting the other winners. I've heard some stories about those crazy Delaware moms...Reminds me to take a trip to the beach.

Congratulations Roch (well deserved)......your earlier question who at SS. After Fahey's double I'll stick with the hot bat lol.

Mora won't be sitting. Dave seems to really like Mora so he will be in there.
Posted by: Shawn | July 1, 2008 7:49 PM
yay!
freddy the bee is back!!!!!
Posted by: the Wayward O | July 1, 2008 7:50 PM
from previous entry to nebraska jeff.....I think the meaning of the comment about cintron hitting the ball was where he hit it on the field, not his position in the batting order............

Congrats, Roch.
And how did I know Fahey would get an RBI right away?
'J' is for the Subway guy....

Roch -
It has been so long since you've started this blog. It has been a place where we share joy, frustration, ideas, and fun. Thanks for continuing this blog for everybody.

Congratulations, Roch! It is kind of amusing that you rank just behind motherhood and religion (although perhaps that should have been apple pie?). You get special points for being THE blog in the top 3.
I know I was one of the more vocal about Luis Hernandez never having the bat to be a decent MLB SS, but if he'd bring the glove he flashed last year I'd rather see him in there. No one we have is providing offense, it'd be nice to have a great defensive player in there. I'm guessing he just pressed too much to live up to billing as the starting SS. Last year he knew he was holding the spot for Tejada, and he was great in the field. This year, after he loses his job, he plays 2B for a game or two to rest Roberts and he looks great.

Roch,
Considering that you mainly cover the Os, wouldn't fourth place be more appropriate?
