We've been told that Chris Ray pitched a simulated game Wednesday after having two batting practice sessions, but he's not close to appearing in a real game. He's continuing his mound progression, and it's doubtful that he'll return in late August or early September.
Ray hasn't suffered any setbacks, according to manager Dave Trembley, but the reliever's timetable appears to be a little different than the one envisioned by the ballclub. Ray wants to come back in 2008. It sounds like Trembley would prefer having him pitch in the instructional league and get ready for next season.

Roch--It's amazing what writing the line "Still no Freddie Bynum in the lineup" can do.

Those blue hats are bizarre. The Orioles are dressed like an American Legion team out there.

Who would have thought it. Fahey and Bynum are the O's offensive jauggernauts! Go O's!

Move Jones UP! Sure he is young and inexperienced. But he is doing the job. I do not remember the Braves hitting Chipper 8th his 1st season. I do not remember A-Rod hitting 8th his 1st season. I do not think I need to go on. But really letting the kid hit under some pressure would be good for him. Its not like he will hit 8th his whole career. And we did not deal for him because we think he is a #8 hitter. Let him hit 2nd for a couple weeks.
Something like:
2B Roberts
CF Jones
RF Markakis
DH Huff
C Hernandez
LF Scott
1B Millar
3B Mora
SS Flavor of the month

This is great! It looks like Fahey and Bynum are making the best of their starts today. 8 to 1 in the 3rd... that should hold up with Guthrie on the mound.

Hopefully this will silence some of that Eckstein talk.
22 more runs to go! Retribution, I say!

Guthrie 100 pitches through only 6 innings. Sure were a lot of foul balls this game by Rangers.

I remember Jeter batting ninth his rookie year.
