Fast start

It didn't take long for the Orioles to give Garrett Olson a lead.

Nick Markakis belted a two-run homer in the first inning, the ball landing in the back of the flag court, after Blue Jays starter Shaun Marcum hit Adam Jones.

Markakis is now 8-for-16 with five homers lifetime against Marcum.

At least eight teams have scouts here tonight: The Mets, Diamondbacks, Phillies, Marlins, Cardinals (two), Reds, Brewers and Cubs.

Good to know that castoffs from the two AL East cellar dwellers are apparently in high demand amongst NL contenders.

Which tells ya all ya need to know about the disparity between leagues....

,,,Gotta believe their scouts are looking for a closer

To whoever criticized my proposal of George Sherrill for Brandon Wood, there are rumors out of LA that the Angels would target Sherrill... look at their roster.... the one place they can upgrade in the bullpen. Of course Sherrill wouldn't be a closer, but he'd be a nice late inning guy for a good team. Not to mention, K-Rod is gone most likely at the end of the season (I'm betting to the Mets) and how convenient to have a proven in-house solution for 2009.

The Brewers have signed Jay Gibbons...

Fast start but leave it to olson to blow it again. Broken record again Roch, walks, behind the behind in the count, What does it take for this team to realize that these guys don't belong in the major leagues. This get old really fast Another game that his pitch count is over 100 in less then 5 innings. If jim palmer says one more time that this is what we are going to get with young guys pitching in the major leagues when they are not ready.Enough is enough.

The fast start is quickly given away!!!

How much longer to we have watch this bum continue to handed the ball???

He's the one who needs to go to make room for Walker... This is horrible!!!

"k" is for Kan't throw strikes

Gotta love the fight in this team. Olson had one of the more brutal outings of an O's pitcher this year, but the rest of the guys seem ready to pick him up. Do we have four innings worth of pitching? We might need to score 11 to get 'er done.

I love the updates on the scouts, thanks Roch...

About Jim talking about the young pitchers over and over again and how crappy Thorne is....... this is exactly why I watch the opposing teams telecast on MLB extra innings, not to mention it is always in HD!

Fairly random question -- is Gary Thorne's pronounciation of Marco Scutaro's name correct? He keeps saying SCOO-ta-ro, but my instinct would seem to tell me that it should be scoo-TAR-oh.

Hope the Diamondbacks are here to take Ramon away.

Very likely the scouts are out looking at Luke Scott
