I missed manager Dave Trembley's pre-game session with the media, but I'm told he spent most of it venting about his young pitchers and their inability to work deep into games. The frustration is building. But again, there isn't much he can do about it. It's on them.

has anyone else observed how HORRIBLE the umpiring has been this year? Whatever is happening is not good for baseball. I hope the league office can get rid of some of these incompetents.

When Olson walked their No. 9 guy on four straight pitches last night -- remember the guy was batting less than .200 on the season and only .170 against lefties at the time -- I would have applauded Trembley if he had walked out to the mound, taken the ball and put our reserve catcher in to pitch. These guys are Major Leaguers for goodness sakes. They should be able to throw a fastball over the plate to a .200 pitcher. If he hits it, FINE! There are seven other fella's out there to catch it. But they can't defend a walk.
Yes, the O's got out of that inning, but it was a harbinger of things to come. I wouldn't put Olson back out there. If he's that scared, send him down for seasoning. Surely we have somebody in all of the minor leagues that can mix in a strike every once in a while.
There can't be another team in the majors that sees its pitchers, when ahead in the game by 2 or 3 runs, start more players with 2-0 and 3-0 counts. It's called fundamentals and it's what makes this team -- which has been overachieving despite its pitching -- very hard to enjoy.

So when exactly is the "easy" signing of Matusz supposed to occur? Funny how when it comes to money it never is easy in Baltimore. Maybe Angelos can be painted as the hero when he gets "personally involved" just like last year with Wieters.

Wake up people , what you see is what you get when Peter the Great will not pay top dollar for a player to pitch every five days,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you are going to be looking at ordinary pitching prospects for a long time,,,,,,,,,,,,who wants to pitch here and not get paid?
The great one won't have to worry about paying these guys top dollar,,,,,,,,,and this is rebuilding ...........

I don't understand why Trembley is doing all this venting. I'm not suggesting that what's happening with the starting pitching isn't frustrating, but that it is what it is. What use is there in scolding the pitchers or venting to the media if the expectations are beyond what they are capable? Perhaps encouragement is the way to go. I thought he was supposed to be a guy who understood how to develop young players. All I keep watching in the post games, and reading in the media is that DT is frustrated and letting it out. I fail to see how that is going to get Olson, Burres and Liz to pitch better. I'd like to see some patience out of DT. I'm so pleased at how well the team is performing this year, but it's a bonus. Patience and encouragement. The O's are not in the playoff race. They've got no chance. Yelling and venting will help nothing.

What do you guys think about a possible blockbuster between the Orioles and the Cards. We could take advantage of the Cards being in the play-off race. We give them Sherrill and Roberts. They give us: Colby Rasmus, Chris Perez, and a shortstop prospect. I just want opinions. Rasmus in Left would make the top young outfield in the league and for the Cards it would fill two major needs for the Cardinals. It would also serve as a way for the Cards to answer Cubs and Brewers.

I'm guessing that crow is also waiting for matusz to sign this could get interesting and by interesting i mean sad

There are so many things wrong with him waiting for Crow to sign that I can only pray that it's not true.

Rebuilding, the cards don't have any shortstop prospects, well they do, but they just drafted them so they can't be traded for a year.
