Before the first pitch
Randor Bierd has reported to Double-A Bowie and is scheduled to throw two innings tomorrow as part of his injury rehab assignment.
Bierd will appear in five games with the Baysox through July 17th before the Orioles re-evaluate him.
Down on the farm, Single-A Frederick's Billy Rowell came within a triple of hitting for the cycle. His fourth home run was a tremendous shot to center field. Brandon Snyder and Chris Vinyard also homered, and Jake Arrieta struck out 10 in five innings.

I'm guessing that Aquino has until Bierd is ready to show if he can be effective..

hey Roch, do you think the Orioles are hoarding bierd with "rehab" assignments just so they don't have to send him back to detroit?
if so, it's a smart idea

Sorry Billy for putting you down yesterday. Yes you will be the 1st to hit the warehouse. For sure. Griff Jr. doesen't count. Jim Miller would have been called up but he has bird flu. 0 for 7 for Oscar. I might have to cut you loose. None of our 13 or so draft picks playing are setting the world on fire. YET!! We'll be set after the trading dead line. JJ is our all star. When did he figure it out?

Of course they are Paul, lets give them a little bit of credit, I am sure they also stretched out Loewen's rehab as long as they could since he is out of options.
Ok Roch, The A's signed Inoa, the Padres signed 5 young players, the Yankees 5 ect ect. Did the O's sign any international players? Havn't heard a word out of them, not even that they liked Inoa.
I was hoping for some progress in this area of player development, afterall what else are they doing with the money they arn't paying Tejada and Bedard?

Paul - that's my bet. But I do think they will bring him up rather than send him back to Detroit. It's just a question of who draws the short straw. Ideally, they can string it out till they trade somebody before the end of the month, such as Bradford or Walker, if he can get healthy in time. There is a finite amount of time for "rehab" but I don't know what it is.

It is 3-1 O's - but is there any doubt the O's will need a ton of runs with Burris on the mound? Hope I'm wong.

All the starters (including Burress) need to throw more strikes. They are reaching the pitch count limit way to early. This is another reason why the bullpen is wearing down. It makes since for Aquino to be brought up for 2 reasons. #1 Bukvich never got the job done, #2 Beird isn't that far away from being ready. As Roch reported he is at Bowie for his rehab. Aquino meanwhile is keeping his roster sport warm til he is ready. If you just saw it, Cormier just served up a 2R HR to Kinsler on a pitch right down the middle. That is another thing that has to stop, too many pitches right down the middle.
