Millar got his hair bleached blonde, except for the back, which is still dark for reasons he doesn't understand. He had no idea it wasn't completely blonde until later.

Good thing his job requires him to wear a hat - not that I'm in any position to talk.

Adam Loewen is scheduled to make five appearances at Double-A Bowie, which means he'll travel with the Baysox. He's supposed to go two innings tonight.

Loewen's rehab outline also includes one game with Triple-A Norfolk before the Orioles re-evaluate him.

Meanwhile, Rule 5 pick Randor Bierd will report to the Gulf Coast League team and throw two innings on Friday. He's also scheduled to pitch on Monday and next Wednesday before reporting to Single-A Frederick and pitching on the June 28. Bierd rehab assignment runs through July 17.

So, when Loewen and Beird get back, what happens? trades of Walker and Bradford would open up the two spots...they could send Liz back down to work on mechanics, throw Albers in the rotation, and that would open up room for one, but what about the other? I'm guessing it will be Cormier...haven't seen him pitch in a while

I'm looking forward to the return of Randor and his change up.

Hope is arm is healthy again so he can pop his fastball and make the change up click.

yeah cormier is definitely the odd man out...if burress continues to falter...do they send him down?

By all means burress should be the odd man out, Him and olson both look scared on the mound when they pitch. The least thing that goes wrong with olson he goes on tilt. I would keep bradford unless we can get something really good. On the other hand i would get rid of walker. His salary for getting one batter or should i say for not getting one batter out is a luxury that this team can't afford right now, especially when we have other good kids for that spot.

Hate beating a dead horse but I guess the Millar hitting 4 for his last 26 (.153) is still not enough to convince Manager of the Year DT to "rest" him. O Salazar should be getting more looks considering we'll need a 1bman in 2009.

No Quiroz either...

When is Flat Breezy night?

I just found out Jay Gibbons is available but he is playing for the Ducks. Is this the hockey team?

We should bring him back as DH.

The Newark Star-Ledger is reporting that the Yankees have signed Sidney Ponson to a minor league contract.

http://www.nj.com/yankees/index.ssf/2008/06/yankees_sign_sidney_ponson.html

The Yankees just announced that they have signed right-handed pitcher Sidney Ponson to a Triple-A contract. Presumably, this means Ponson will report to Scranton, but it would seem likely that he'd get a shot in the Yankees' major-league rotation soon.

Thats the second go around for Sir Sidney with the Yanks.

/snicker

Sir Sidney signed by Yankees and is slated to report to Scranton. Oy. Maybe they can use Trax in long relief and Armando to set up Mo. Long live Hank.

The Orioles shouldn't rush either Loewen or Bierd back to the majors. It's far more important that they are physically 100% and have the rust off.

I watched the game last night and thought Ramon Hernandez looked confident at the plate. Let's see if that continues. I'm of the opinion that the O's will continue to hit now that we've gotten out of the early season, because by coincidence most of the everyday players are notoriously slow at getting their hitting untracked.

Jay Gibbons is now a member of the independent Atlantic League's Long Island Ducks. The Ducks' roster is littered with a number of other players with major league (notably, Carl Everett, Alex Sanchez, Donovan Osborne, Jason Simontacchi) Oriole (Todd Williams, Pete Rose Jr.) or UM Terp (Kevin Haverbusch) connections.

Keep up on Jay at the team's website (and be sure to have your computer's speakers on when you go there). http://www.liducks.com. Be sure to check out the photo on the top left of the home page, which I've captioned: "Run for your life, kids, it's Psycho Duck!"

My son thinks that Luke Scott bears a resemblance to Johnny Damon from the NY suckees. My son is 11. I see something but I'm not so sure. Anyone from the peanut gallery care to comment?

Did you guys see this? http://bromoblog.wordpress.com/2008/06/18/kevin-millar/
Saw it on deadspin and was wondering if anyone had confirmation.

Dave always seemed to be a guy who didn't play favorites with any players, but i can tell you there is one oriole above any that gets way more then the benefit of the doubt. That player is Kevin Millar, don't get me wrong he plays hard every game, is a good club house guy but he is 4 for his last 26 and there isn't any reason what so ever why salazar doesn't get a chance to play some .No reason what so ever.

i knew the yanks were gonna do that...
