The lineup
Brian Roberts - 2B
Nick Markakis - RF
Melvin Mora - 3B
Aubrey Huff - 1B
Kevin Millar - DH
Luke Scott - LF
Ramon Hernandez - C
Adam Jones - CF
Freddie Bynum - SS
Brian Burres - P
Millar is walking with a slight limp and his knee is wrapped in an elastic bandage, but he's ready to play.
Millar phoned manager Dave Trembley at 10 a.m., asking that he not make out the lineup before consulting with head athletic trainer Richie Bancells. Trembley joked that he screened the call.

Why not give Millar another day off to let that knee get some rest & use Salazar? It's not like they don't have someone to play for him now. Maybe Millar does know of Wally Pip.
Whose pitching for the Pirates Roch... Steve Blass or Jim Rooker?

You know i agree , whats wrong with giving him another day off. salazar looks like he could help some.Anyway it won't make any difference Roch if they don't find a way to get the starting pitching back on track. they are starting to revert back to last year with all those walks and always pitching from behind in the count. it was a pleasure win or lose to watch the improvement, but the last 10 or so games the pitchers are throwing very defensively like they all lost there confidence.

Question: Why does the order go Scott, Ramon, then Jones? Thats lefty, righty, righty, but since Scott gets on base more than Ramon, why give Jones less opportunity to hit with a man or two on? It's not like it will be messing up the order that much. It would result in more at bats and more RISP at bats, inevitably. I would understand if Ramon were actually hitting the ball at a .250 clip, but he isn't close.

Walking with a limp and he's ready to play.... Yeah, Right. Someone on that club is stuck on stupid. Millar doesn't have the common sense God gave a cornflake and he cons Trembley into putting him in the line-up... If he gums up the works tonight on the base paths, it'll say volumes about our manager.

Come on, why don't we get Ramon down in the order, and have Jones move up?
I mean, Ramon is not exactly inspiring us with his offense right now, and he's 7th, and that's right behind the clean-clean up hitter. I would switch him with Jones for a game and see how it is.
Or, why not and just put him up in 5th, and see what shakes out of the Offense Tree?

More Quiroz Less Ramon

Why is Ramon in the lineup tonight? BENCH HIM! He has EARNED it.
Let Quiroz show us what he can do behind the plate.
More generally, if Trembley's view is that players can earn respect (which is itself an admirable philosophy), he's got to accept that they can earn their way out of respect, too. How about respecting the team and the fans?

Maybe they could hit Millar in his right knee. Then he wouldn't limp and he would HAVE to take a day off, which would be good for the team.

I think Ramon is batting real well with RISP, like around .300, if it wasn't for that and the way he handles the pitching staff we might be making Paul Bako calls.

But Ramon has driven in runs.

Kevin Millar playing with a limp? And so many of us were hoping to see him hit an inside the park home run tonight. Bummer!

Roch,
Your mission should you choose to except it..... work your magic and get the Orioles to wear that '79 uniform more often. I am totally in love with it! They all look so cute!! I just want to pinch their cheeks and call them schmoopie!!!
AH, IT'S FRIDAY!

Well it looks like shades of last year with this pitching staff.Burres has demostardted to me that he doesn't belong in the majors. We are never going to improve until we can get this pitching staff straightened out. these walks are killing us. burres looks like he is afraid and really doesn't belong here. 4 starts in a row he has been absolutley horrible.
