Game update and Duquette's appreciation
Brian Roberts made a late, awkward slide into home plate on Kevin Millar's run-scoring single in the third inning, and he came up limping.
Wonderful.
He'll stay in the game. And the Orioles refuse to be blown out of this one.
Down 3-0 in the first inning, they've rallied to take a 5-3 lead in the third against Josh Beckett.
And you were worried!
Beckett retired the first five batters on 14 pitches before Luke Scott, Adam Jones and Jay Payton strung together singles to produce the first run.
Kevin Millar's single made it 3-2 in the third, and Scott followed with a three-run bomb - the ball traveling 385 feet to right field.
Jeremy Guthrie has thrown 81 pitches in four innings.
Meanwhile, you might find this interesting. Barry Bonds is feeling more heat - and not from the clear or the cream.
I just received a text message from Jim Duquette saying that he's blown away by the number of contributions he's received to the Nephcure Foundation from readers of this blog.
"A ton of them," he wrote.
He's really touched by your generosity, and we can't thank you enough.

I was sure wrong about Scott. Very right about "The Magic Dragon."

Watching on NESN. Luke is using the Force tonight. Roberts's slide into home looked awful, but still not as awful as when Sammy Sosa tried to drop-kick that Texas catcher.

Anybody else read Beckett's lips as he walked off the field in the bottom of the 5th? (*expletive* you, something) I wonder what THAT was all about and who is was directed at.

Roch, the MLB Gameday pitch locator showed the last strike to Adam Jones in the bottom of the fifth to be well inside. I don't have a television feed - was there any reaction from Jones or the bench on that pitch?

MASN has shown a fan in the crowd a couple of times tonight waving a sign that says "Luke Scottwalker". It's good to know I'm not the only one shouting "Use the force, Luke!" every time he comes up to the plate...

The power of the Roch. Keep up the good charity work.

Why is it that Trembley always seems to leave the starting pitcher in there one or two batters too many? Guthrie had 107 pitches in 6 innings and he shouldn't have come out for a 7th. Albers was warm in the Pen and either him or Johnson should've started the 7th. Hopefully we'll hang on to win but I've got a bad feeling about it.

Jamie Walker Stinks.

Walker has to go. He's awful. When he can't even get the lefties out it's time to go. He's killing the bullpen right now.

Another game and another time Jamie Walker doesn't due his job. I will keep asking the same question how many more chances does he get to show that he get pitch anymore and has become a real liability to the orioles. Dave you just keep running him out night in and night out and you will be vacationing with Sam perlozzo in Fla. Wake up guys and please realize what i have been saying is correct
