Don't write it in ink
I'm going to pass along the lineup, but it comes with a warning: Melvin Mora is listed as the starter at third base, and catcher Ramon Hernandez is supposed to be behind the plate. Hernandez appears to be a go, but Mora's status will be decided after batting practice.
Manager Dave Trembley advised that we keep an eraser handy, just in case.
Brian Roberts - 2B
Melvin Mora - 3B
Nick Markakis - RF
Aubrey Huff - DH
Kevin Millar - 1B
Luke Scott - LF
Ramon Hernandez - C
Adam Jones - CF
Freddie Bynum - SS
Garrett Olson - P
Trembley said Alex Cintron will get a start at shortstop "soon," but he didn't want to provide a definite date and then change his mind and be bombarded with questions about it.
He'll also announce the latest rotation after Sunday's game, and after pitching coach Rick Kranitz returns to the team. Kranitz is attending his daughter's college graduation, leaving bullpen coach Alan Dunn in the dugout as Kranitz's replacement.
What would a blog entry be without some minor league news? The Single-A Frederick Keys placed pitcher Pedro Beato on the disabled list yesterday with a sore shoulder.

Totally off topic but I can't wait till 2010 when we will have a whole new ball club with fresh young faces without the following:
Baez
Bradford
Walker
Millar
Huff
Hernandez
Mora
Trachsel
Payton
and replace them with
weiters
rowell
tillman
arrieta
and others

It's worth mentioning that today's edition of Baseball America's Prospect Hotlist has three Oriole prospects in the top five.
With a great draft this year, we could have an enviable minor league system in the not to distant future. Most places around the net have us taking Brian Matusz, which I am perfectly fine with. He's ace material.

Beato....utoh.....

Matt R. - Nice work posting the Baseball America stuff first. It's really nice to see some legitimate prospects on the list. Baseball America is one of the few publications that I really respect, because they go out and SEE all of these guys. They haven't been wrong about too many players!

I wouldn't count on all those guys comin up jared.

Unfortunately Brandon Erbe is listed on the Not Hot list.
Once we start producing position players to the tune that the Braves produce, I'll withhold praise on our minor league overhaul. The O's produce Position players like the Ravens produce Offensive Skill position players.

The Orioles trail 2-0 after half an inning, so they'll need to come from behind again...ho, hum. (Once Olson started getting the first pitch over, he was fine.)
Somehow my posting on the Roch's last blog didn't appear, so I'm redoing it, albeit more briefly. The Bond-bashers were out in full force, so I posted something showing that as bad as many want to paint him, he has this side as well...

If we often praise Brian Roberts (and rightly so) for visiting sick children, let's give Bonds a few props, as well (yes, he's tooting his own horn, but this is a still praiseworthy act).

...isn't it somewhat surprising that Camden Yards has a significant empty seats for a Nationals and Orioles Friday night game?

Here's the link for the BA Hotlist:
http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/prospect-hot-sheet/2008/266116.html
Funny aside: Jayson Stark's column had that anonymous scout saying Tillman didn't impress him because he was like Ian Kennedy - not great stuff, just a good feel for pitching. The BA description refutes that pretty stongly.

Jared , that is wishful thinking. Besides weiters if 1 other guy on your list makes this team and produces we will be ahead of the game. Rowell is far from being a can't miss.Another pitcher in this organization comes up with a sore arm. It's totally amazing that we have so many young minor pitchers that are hurt. No wonder andy traded for so many pitchers it seems like you need 20 pitchers in hopes that you get 2 that can get to the majors and be effective. I was never a daniel c fan but i must give him credit for be durable, That has to count for something

After 10 straight losing seasons,I can't tell you how good it feels to watch the O's so far.I hope it continues. Now,if we can just get rid of the negative writers.
