Don't forget that tomorrow night is Nick Markakis T-shirt Tuesday. The first 10,000 fans 15-and-over attending the Orioles' game against the Red Sox will receive a shirt - and a chance to bat third in the lineup.

OK, just the shirt.

Pitcher Tony Butler, acquired from the Mariners in the Erik Bedard deal, is on the disabled list at Single-A Delmarva with tendinitis in his left arm. I'm told he's optimistic that he'll miss one start, two at the most. He's with the team and receiving daily treatments.

Butler is 1-2 with a 3.97 ERA in seven games (six starts). He's walked five and struck out 26 in 34 innings.

Jim Duquette, former vice president of baseball operations for the Orioles, passed along word that his family is holding a fundraiser May 31 in the Maryland/DC area aimed to fight a disease known as "Nephrotic Syndrome" that his 6-year-old daughter, Lindsey, still suffers from. Donations are being accepted to the Nephcure Foundation through the Web site, linked below, that the Duquettes created with her current status included. Please give it a read:

Duquette said prayers also are appreciated.

"We are accepting anything that helps," he wrote in an e-mail.

Consider it done.

Why would they have a promotion on a game that would probably sell out anyway and a lot of the shirts wind up in Red Sux fans hands??
Leave it up to the O's.

Unless we're about to trade Roberts--hope not--I don't know why Terrero didn't get the call-up ahead of Cintron... we can't drop Luis, which leaves us with four middle-infielders, and Terrero is leading the international league in hitting, about 80 points higher than anybody on our team. I don't see what we lose turning Scott/Millar into a platoon until July and seeing if Terrero can stay hot for a couple weeks. Jim Johnson didn't look like this last year, maybe something clicked for Terrero.

I'm just amazed any kids are born healthy anymore. Seems like there is a new syndrome every day. Between autism, birth defects, retardation, syndromes, etc it must be worrisome as hell for every expectant parent.

My prayers are with his family.

You know roch i guess i know now why teams have to draft or trade for 15 pitchers to possibly get 2 that can pitch . I have never seen so many pitchers that come through our organization that come down hurt.My bashing of daniel will stop , because in all the years that he has been pitching i don't think he has missed many starts to injury. Durability has to count for something. The jury is still out on the bedard trade, but i really believe tha orioles got fleeced in the trade with houston. However i would have still made the trade just to get rid of miguel.I really thought scott was going to supply some power but with a quarter of the season already played he has 1 home run and 10 rbi. He also so looks very very shaky on every ball hit to him in the outfield.

If RHernandez' wrist is serious and he might miss a month (or the rest of the season), I'd give MW a shot.
Remember how many minor league games Al Kaline played?
NONE.

And how many Al Kalines have there been?

John - Sell Out???? Have you been paying attention at all.

bob lancione—What I’ve noticed about Luke Scott defensively is that he is old school—he moves to balls and catches them in front of his head with two hands. I certainly like that approach. I would have thought you would have appreciated that.

But it has been over 24 hours since you stopped expressing your obsession with Jamie Walker and I suppose your sharp, well-honed editorial lance that needs the concentration of one at a time had to temporarily move elsewhere. So, God Bless you Luke for being the lucky guy now to be bob’s latest obsession.

Regarding the many drafted pitchers succumbing to injury, yes, we have heard that tune before from you, bob. Your love for “daniel,” at this moment, wouldn’t have anything to do with him pitching well, would it? Oh no, it is simply the fact that he hasn’t pulled himself out of the rotation because of an injury?

Don’t believe Jamie Walker has yanked himself from the mound because of an injury, bob. Might he be pitching through pain right now? Could be.

Will you let him work things out? Oh, I’m sure you will. Now that you are onto Luke Scott, and the Birds getting fleeced by the Astros—you so enjoy embracing misery—I can’t imagine you could still be able to hang onto all the necessary vowels, consonants, contractions and shape them into understandable words to denigrate Jamie Walker.

That would demand some pitching from you.

To John,
They usually don't have enough fans there to give away the 10,000 t-shirts.

I'm interested to know how strongly people feel about holding onto Daniel Cabrera...if the Yankees offered Jeter (and his salary) straight up for Daniel, do the O's make the deal? Of course this would never happen, but it would be a good (short term) fix for the O's (and contrary to everything McPhail is trying to do, I understand). Jeter's presence might be what it would take to entice Tex too. Again, if you are McPhail for a day and Cashman is game, do you make the deal?

In the interest of full disclosure, I can't stand Jeter and think Daniel has a huge upside, so this might be a simpler question than I think. If the answer is "of course you make this deal," then what do you consider a fair return for Daniel if he is traded?

O is for O-R-I-O-L-E-S, magic, magic, magic.

Add Dave Winfield to the no minor league list.

Rich

From the simply amazing department, the Orioles have an infielder at Delmarva named Ryan Adams. He made three more errors last night to bring his season total up to 23... and it's only mid-May. Yikes!

Hey barry eat you know what. If you have a real problem with me pal why don't you say it to my face Don't make sarcastic remarks on paper make to me personnaly . Any time any place would be fine with me. .

John Olerud didn't either- until the end of his career (injury rehab assignment)

MY prayers go out to the Duquette family,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I have a baseball question , what will 10,000 Bosox fans do with Nick Markakis tee shirts ?.............

Roch, Do we deny Manny from the exclusive club much as we did A-rod last year and Clemens as well.

I'm actually looking forward to Wednesday's game so my pops can get his seat cushion. It's his birthday, we get to see the O's whip the 'Sox, and pops gets hemmrhoid relief. BTW, true story... while getting Ryan Adams' autograph before a Shorebirds game recently HE DROPPED THE SHARPIE. Let's just hope he doesn't ever end up in prison...

Rob-In response to your question , if i was McPhail , If Cashman offered me Jeter straight up for DCab? my answer is no . i wont make that deal. however if Cashman offers say , joba , hughes , cano , kennedy or melky , then yes , i would trade daniel for any of those players .

I am curious as whether McPhail himself would trade DCab this july or not .

Luke Scott = handsomer and healthier version of Jay Gibbons.

I'm going to the game tonight and I already have a Markakis tee, but I will be pissed if I get there and I don't get one. They should give them out to people who are clearly O's fans. Like someone said earlier, what the hell are BoSox fans going to do with a Markakis tee. That is just stupid. Guess I'll leave right from work and chill at the bar inside the stadium for two hours. Hey! That sounds like a good idea!!!

Should be a good game tonight.... Beckett vs. Guthrie. I really wish it was Cabrera pitching tonight!! Maybe then, Pedroia would charge the mound and throw his little helmet at Cabrera. That would make my YEAR!!!

OH well, there is always tomorrow?

Also, did anyone else see Bedard get killed in that Ranger game? I think Andy may have saved us on this one!!! I think it was like 6 ER in 3 innings or something like that. Not good!

Tonight there are 10 of us in Section 8 ( which totally fits us by the way ) that are there for my cousin's birhtday. He is hoping that we can get a Markakis shirt. Everyone should come by and drink a beer with us. I'll have my black Jones #10 on. Just ask Errol about the crazy midget, thats one of my cousins...

Go Birds!

Rob - no way do I trade Cabrera for Jeter. Jeter is declining bigtime. His power is non-existent and his speed is gone, too. Add his shaky defense to that, and you may have the most over-priced player in major league baseball, outside of Mike Hampton.

Now if they offered Kennedy/Hughes and Melky Cabrera, I'd have to think about it. They didn't even offer that much for Johan Santana, though.

Hey matt, hansomer , healthier version of jay gibbons, not real sure if he is any better then him and i didn't like gibbons at all. If it wasn't for his fast start he would be terrible.I still think although early we made out on the bedard trade, houston got the best of us on the there trade.

I thought the DCab for Jeter suggestion (as if the Yankees would ever consider it) was the stupidest post I'd seen on here in a long time and then someone actually said we would be smart to turn it down. A new low! Roch, are you going to sell tickets to the Bob v. Barry cage match?

"Hey matt, hansomer , healthier version of jay gibbons, not real sure if he is any better then him and i didn't like gibbons at all. If it wasn't for his fast start he would be terrible.I still think although early we made out on the bedard trade, houston got the best of us on the there trade. "

that was my point.

Well, for the cage match I guess I’ll show up wearing my lucky shirt, the black and orange number 32.

Bob, what about you?
