Trying to fix the glitch
It only took until the third inning for the first fan to approach me in front of the press box and mention that 4-2 prediction. But he also pointed out that he hasn't missed reading the blog in more than a year, so he gets a free pass.
The Rays are getting plenty of them. Why should he be any different?
The Orioles are having major problems with the scoreboard. Every time I look up, it's 2-0 and there's a 0-0 count on the batter. The numbers are corrected, then they're wrong again.
Still working out the bugs, I suppose.
Carlos Pena's two-run homer in the fifth has given Tampa Bay a 5-3 lead. Randor Bierd is warming in the bullpen.
At least somebody's warm.
Interesting decision by manager Dave Trembley to have Daniel Cabrera intentionally walk Cliff Floyd and load the bases with one out in the third. Yes, Floyd crushed a three-run homer earlier, but that was Cabrera's fourth walk. Seemed pretty risky, but Willy Aybar struck out looking and Dioner Navarro grounded out.
Cabrera just issued another walk to load the bases with no outs. This one wasn't intentional. And here comes Bierd to make his major league debut. Good luck.

Melvin Mora is a loser.

Can Cabrera have any more tobacco in his lip? Its ridiculous looking and I'd hate to have to field a ball after it travels through his res spit. You can't have facial hair, but you can pack a fat lipper and pitch buzzed from it.

Beird looked good. His off-speed stuff really seems to have hitters off-balance.

The Orioles are having small problems with the starting pitchers.
The scoreboard may be the least of their worries.
Isn't this the time of year that pitchers are ahead of hitters? Or is it the other way around?

The scoreboard had plenty of glitches. But please tell the operator that
OPS=OBP+SLUG
For every player the OPS was the same as the OBP.
