Adam Loewen is undergoing a bone scan, so the Orioles don't have any updates on his condition. They'll gather the results of the bone scan, CT scan and MRI and consult with Dr. James Andrews, who performed the surgery on Loewen.

We do know this much: Loewen won't be ready after his 15 days are up.

The suspended game with the White Sox will be completed on Aug. 25, per MLB rules. That's the next series between the teams. Chicago will be the "home" team, even though the game will be played at Camden Yards.

I assume the re-enactment won't require the Orioles to turn on the sprinklers overnight to saturate the field.

Brandon Fahey's been told that he'll move around at Triple-A Norfolk. He's a utility player and will be treated as such. Meanwhile, manager Dave Trembley said the roster move gives Luis Hernandez about 12 days to show what he can do. Trembley dropped Alex Cintron's name in the conversation, too, saying the infielder wasn't quite ready yet. But it's obvious that Cintron is getting serious consideration for a call-up.

Still no definitive word on tomorrow's starter. It's either Jim Johnson or Matt Albers, depending on whether either guy is needed tonight. Johnson's two innings yesterday didn't knock him out of the competition.

Bob McCrory was a closer at Double-A Bowie and Norfolk, and Trembley said it's "highly unlikely" that he'd go more than two innings with the Orioles.

Fernando Cabrera threw another inning at extended spring training. His schedule calls for him to stay in Sarasota until May 20 before going on an injury rehab assignment with one of the affiliates.

What about Rocky Cherry? Is he still in extended ST too? Can't find him anywhere...

I am glad they are thinking Cintron over Hernandez in 12 days. Torres seems to be the better option as a util reserve, at least until they get whatshisname ready from the DL.

I just hope they don't screw up McCrory.

It seems they may have rushed Loewen back too soon, but who could know if he doesn't speak up?

Roch, will the Orioles wear their away jerseys on August 25th for the completion of the suspended game and then switch to their home jerseys for the regularly scheduled game?

Fahey is a gamer, but so was Bob Bonner. We need bats. Cintron can hit .250 and play a steadier SS. LHernandez may just need another year in the minors. Or maybe he's just not major league material. I tend to trust Trembley.
I am prepared to have this be the last day I see the O's in first place till next April. They're crappy, but they're scrappy.
I would love to see what Trembley could do with a good team.

Bob McCrory was a closer at Double-A Bowie and Norfolk, and Trembley said it's "highly unlikely" that he'd go more than two innings with the Orioles.

It's highly unlikely for Trembley to use ANY reliever for more than two innings. That's one of the reasons he needs a 13-man bullpen.

Let 'em pitch!

Wow,no pressure on Luis Hernandez, huh? I guess it comes with being a big leaguer..

Cintron hit another home run today. Looks ready to me. Liz pitched six two hit, shutout innings and then the bullpen blew it. Cintron will be here soon. Nice to finally see promising players at AAA (Olson, Liz, Penn etc.). Tough to see Costanzo continuing to flirt with the Mendoza line while striking out at least twice a game, however. He certainly looks like a AA player, but it's still early and we can hope he's just adjusting.

Love the sprinkler idea Roch! Very funny.

I like that Trembley is putting Luis Hernandez on notice. He's had a chance to get acclimated and now we need to see some production. Cintron, though hardly a special player, is at least a .250 hitter who plays a clean shortstop.

Too bad about Greg Aquino. He certainly didn't capitalize on his opportunities but Trembley didn't exactly do him any favors by only pitching him about once every two weeks. He really showed no confidence in him whatsoever.

It'll be interesting to see what Bob McCory can do at this level. Our bullpen has come back down to earth lately. I must say I've been disappointed in Bradford and Walker. Neither is showing much ability to get the big out when the team needs them most. Last night was Bradford's turn to mess up. Sherrill, Albers, Sarfate and Bierd have also cooled off. Maybe McCory will breathe a little life into the situation.

The whole Loewen episode is starting to take a gloomy path. I sense that the CT and MRI came up negatory and so it is back to the bones. I sure hope it is not a relapse.

Bringing up McCrory is wise in my opinion. The guy that they are missing is a second Sarfate with nerves. This team is in a lot of close games. Life is simpler when you are getting blown out. McCrory is as close as they have .

Hey Roch, forgive me if you've answered this already -- if the Orioles have different players on the roster when they resume the suspended game, will they be able to use them? Or are they limited to guys who were on the 25 man roster at the start of the game?

I really believe the pitching coach finally got into Cabrera's head cause he has been a head case like I said in the past few years. Those 7 walks were not entirely his falt yesterday. One was intentional and the umpires are really squeezing the plate this year. I guess with MLB cleaning up Steriods and Hgh, they have to give the hitters the edge so that homeruns don't come down too much. Some of those pitches yesterday by Cabrera were corner strikes and some just above the belt strikes were not called either. Cabrera does look alot more comfortable.
I hope Olsen trust his stuff and doesn't let the shrunkin strike zone in the majors bother him too much, if it doesn't, he will be fine.

The question with Cintron is more his defense than his offense. He was never a better than average shortstop and his arm has been downright anemic since surgery before the 2007 season. Unless he can come up and hit like he did in 2003, putting his defense at shortstop would hurt more than it would help. I believe both Roberts and Mora could play the position far better than he could at this point.

to brian from the other page -

I don't think you can call McCrory "rushed", he's been in the league for 5 years I believe.

Roch,

Do the Orioles have any interest in Jason Botts...I really think he would be a good pick up....Possibly trade Aquino for him? Unless we can be awarded a waiver claim.

Roch, I may be beating a dead horse - and I apologize if you've answered this one of the 5 times I have brough it up...but what are the options down the road for a cleanup hitter? Millar is down to .218 and headed the wrong way. If they weren't doing so well elsewhere this would be brought up more wouldn't it? A major league team with a cleanup hitter with no speed, no power and no average? Maybe because I do not see an option there aren't any...but someone is dropping the ball here. he cannot be a clubhouse presence when his performance is so poor - he's better suited as an off the bench and occasional starter.
