Scoreless in the second

I'm writing the game story and the game recap for The Sun, so the blog might be neglected tonight. My apologies.

Gavin Floyd's fastball was clocked at 91 mph during Brian Roberts' at-bat, which ended with a strikeout. Melvin Mora popped up an 84-mph slider.

Chicago's leadoff hitter has reached base in the first and second innings against Jeremy Guthrie. Last year, Guthrie's shortest outing as a starter came against the White Sox, when he allowed five earned runs (two homers) and nine hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Shortstop Alex Cintron has been activated and joined Triple-A Norfolk's roster.

It's going to be stretches like this that will really test the oriole fans this year.I am just going to be realistic and keep telling myself that we are rebuiding. But when i look at the line up i see most of the same automatic outs as we had last year. Millar, mora huff, payton, hernendez.I know you couldn't get rid of everbody but outside of bedard being gone and miguel being gone.for some reason it just doesn't feel like we are rebuilding.

Anybody want to second-guess Trembles for leaving Guthrie in after 98 pitches through six innings??

Re: Loewen

Rainouts notwithstanding, Loewen is scheduled to face Felix Hernandez next Tuesady in Seattle. Turn back the clock, it was Loewen , called up two years ago to pitch in a pinch and he was a bag of nerves . There will be quite a few people from the Lower Mainland of British Columbia at the game ...so there will be a ton of pressure to perform.

It is a great scenario for his return to form party...or it could be a meltdown.

Now that we are one inning from .500, it feels like a flood that you cannot stop, and the water is up to the nostrils .

The month of May might very well be gurgle, gurgle gurfff.

I will take solace from a two out of three against the Yanks this weekend .
