New to the nest
The Orioles signed infielder Alex Cintron to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Norfolk.
Cintron signed with the Cubs during spring training and was subsequently released.
How long before he's in Baltimore?
The Rays lead, 3-2 in the third inning. One of their runs in the third was unearned after Melvin Mora misplayed a slow roller from Carl Crawford. Jeremy Guthrie allowed three hits in the inning, including B.J. Upton's two-run single, and also hit a batter.

hey, that first inning could possibly be the first and last time this team is in front of anybody all month....
I'm all about the rebuild here....it's probably just as important this year and next what is going on at the minor league level. Cause what's gonna happen at the major league level most likely will not be that pretty.
Go junior O's!!

Hey Roch...will the new hotel affect the balls carrying to the fence?

Hmmmmm, i'm guessing 103 losses this year. There will be too many beat downs to count. Roch, be prepared for lots of late nights at the ballyard this year.
I hope like hell they get Roberts out of here before he's so damaged that he ponders retirement.

jim66-i agree with your rebuilding comments , and today's game dont look 'pretty' either !
i also saw some empty seats at the game , Opening game , folks !
But good news is i like King Peter allowing MacPhail to cut Gibbons [ $11.9 decision ] and signing free agent SS Alex Cintron today .
Roch , there always hope !

I'd say chances are pretty good that Luis Hernandez or Fahey won't put up big numbers offensively. Whoever struggles will be replaced by Cintron. Cintron's offense reminds me of Tike Redman... decent batting average but not a great on-base guy. I'm not sure about his glove but he does play all over the infield. Come to think of it, he could be a replacement for Scott Moore as well. At age 29, he's a stop-gap guy until someone better comes along.

Nice play by Luis and Ramon Hernandez..........bad call by the home plate ump.....Mora really wasn't trying to get in the way.......Roberts shouldn't have had the stolen base...good call from Dave Trembley to go out and talk to the ump......real nice pitching from Albers, he looked strong.......Burres did a good job of finishing up........Huff has to run those plays out at first base......quit the jogging and don't slow down.......I hate that........nice job from Andy to get Cintron.........Millar's monster double in the first was sweet........anyone catch the name of the guy that sang the Star Spangled Banner? I thought it was the Yankees Ronin Tynan at first, but he has an incredible voice..........the fans at the start sounded like they were at a golf tournament........I barely heard them.....and why when they have the camera on someone, by the time they figure out their on tv, a blink of an eye and their not on tv. And lastly, thanks Roch for this blog and keeping us informed. You went the distance.
