Last Florida road game

The inventor of the Egg McMuffin and the founder of Popeye’s Chicken both died this week.

I have nothing to add. And I really wish I did, because there has to be a joke in there somewhere. A little help, please.

I’m sitting in the press box at Space Coast Stadium, home of the Washington Nationals. It’s a nice facility that sits in the middle of nowhere. You look beyond the center field fence and you see a lot of brown grass, dirt and gravel. But I made it here in a little under 2 ½ hours. It usually takes three.

Don't ask.

One of the parking lot attendants here – and by “parking lot,” I mean grass field – told me they’re expecting a sellout. The place holds about 8,000, including standing-room. I guess people want a catch a preview of the 2008 World Series.

I haven’t seen a lineup today, since I went directly from my condo to the ballpark, but the last time I checked, Adam Jones and Luis Hernandez/Brandon Fahey were the only regulars on the trip. (I’m not sure whether Hernandez or Fahey is regarded as a regular. Soon, though).

I believe Chris Roberson is batting leadoff and Chris Heintz is the cleanup hitter, but I’ll check on that.

If you can’t get enough of me – and really, who can? – come to the Sports Legends Museum on Wednesday and catch a little Orioles talk, beginning at noon. I’ll be joined on the panel by Sun columnist and former spring training roommate Peter Schmuck, MLB.com’s Spencer Fordin, The Examiner’s Sean Welsh and PressBox publisher Stan “The Fan” Charles.

Tickets for the event are $25 and include admission, free parking at the museum, the program with the speakers and a box lunch (just don't leave it near Schmuck or it'll be gone in 10 seconds).

Contact Rachel Childress at 410-727-1539, ext. 3013 or

RachelC@BabeRuthMuseum.com.

I’m heading down to the field. We’ll talk later.

The founder of Popeyes is going to be cremated. His remains will be placed into a decorative urn and served with two sides of your choice.

The McMuffin inventor will be buried in a McCoffin.

Who went first the chicken maker or the egg maker?

Which died first ... the chicken or the egg?

Roch , ,,,,,,,,,,,one last 'thank you' from me , you have made an otherwise boring spring training very entertaining.............

I hope you keep you blog going throughout the schedule , it may be the only way we survive this year , winning 50 games is going to be ugly..........I have this terrible feeling that Cabrera will be our pitcher with the most wins , also the most losses....................Peter the Great must be proud..............

"The inventor of the Egg McMuffin and the founder of Popeye’s Chicken both died this week..."

The age old question remains: Which will clog your arteries first, Popeye's Chicken or the Egg McMuffin?

Who died first the chicken or the egg?

So which came first, the death of the inventor of the Chicken or the death of the inventor of the Egg McMuffin?

The inventor of the Egg McMuffin and the founder of Popeye’s Chicken both died this week. One was 34 and the other 38. Funerals will be held as soon as a crane can remove their bodies from their homes.

Come on Roch,

Which died first the chicken or the egg?

Just a comment from one of the little people!!!

See people do watch Anita....

Roch, have you heard anything on the Jay Gibbons suspension? I would eat the contract because he will only mess things up. He can't play defense, he won't get any at bats with Luke Scott and Aubrey Huff in LF and DH and his PH stats are far worse than when he plays in the field. I'd even eat Jay Payton's contract to to give both Scott Moore and Tike Redman a place on the roster. Moore and Redman are far better than Gibbons and Payton. Plus they won't complain about lack of playing time as will Gibbons and Payton.

Wish I could be there, as well as for Fanfest but I don't have the time to make the 24-hour round trip. Same for opening day or any home game for that matter.

I had a chance to pay my first and only visit to Baltimore and watch a game on a hot July Sunday just prior to the All-Star Game in 2005. I got to meet my boyhood baseball hero Boog Powell at his BBQ pit. It was my first visit to my personal baseball shrine and I'm not afraid to say I nearly cried.

I wish I could be much closer so I could attend more games. What a terrific ballpark! Many of you are lucky to be so close. I know that even if my beloved Orioles bumble their way through 2008, I'd still get to enjoy the awesome game of baseball in a real park. Try comparing it to the sterile atmosphere of Toronto's Rogers Centre. That, my friends, is no ballpark.

OK, I'm probably going to get blasted for this but I'm not a Gibbons defender and I think he should be cut from the team but there is one important factor to consider when dealing with this situation. Is it better for Moore to sit on the bench in Baltimore or play everyday at Norfolk?

I'd like to see Moore start every day here but we all know that's not going to happen and what's the point of making him sit every night watching Mora, Huff and Millar take all the at-bats. I'd rather have Gibbons stuck on the bench and so Moore can stay in game shape and be ready for a call-up.

It would be nice if Redman made the team over Gibbons but he'll probably have to wait until Payton gets shipped out. The O's should offer Gibbons a minor league spot and then we'll see what kind of a person he really is.

No jokes but a suggested headline..."Eggcentric Entrepeneurs Kick the Buck Buck Buck-ET!"

An easy joke would be-

Heaven just got a lot unhealthier!

Who died first...the chicken (guy) or the egg (guy)?

The inventor of the Egg McMuffin and the founder of Popeye’s Chicken died this week. They were both in their early thirties.

Which went first...the chicken man or the egg man?

Roch - any chance that the Orioles will bring in Alex Cintron (just released by the Cubbies). They could use him at SS and that would allow Fahey to go back to the utility role and Luis Hernandez to go back to AAA.

Apparently no one seems to have realized the chicken or egg joke was posted 18 times already.

The founder of Popeye's Chciken passed this week, at his funeral, Bluto, Olive Oyl, Wimpy, and Peter Schmuck, formerly known as Swee Pea had no comment. In other sad news, the creator of the Egg McMuffin was found dead in his Michigan apartment earlier this week, police are seeking the Burger King as a person of interest...

Roch, how about the O's picking up Ruben Gotay? The anemic offense would benefit from his bat, and he could play short until Roberts gets traded.
