Tough day for Walker, too
The Marlins lead, 9-2, in the sixth inning, but at least the pace of the game has quickened.
They scored five runs off Jamie Walker in the fourth, the last three coming on a Cody Ross home run. Walker struck out two of the first three batters he faced, but he couldn't get another out and was replaced by Jon Leicester.
The Marlins had a home run, two doubles and two singles off Walker, who also hit a batter.
Adam Jones has walked twice, but he got caught leaning in the second and was caught stealing. That's how the play is scored, though he got caught in a rundown and was retreating to first base when tagged out.

Good to see the O's are in mid-season form already.

Trembley must have smoke coming out of his ears.
He should hold them all over and make them work some more.
Inability to throw strikes and making bonehead plays feel real familiar.

....and the post game comments by the O's will be, "We were just polishing the rust".

Nothing has worried me so far except Loewen's control.
Jones is 22 and will make mistakes, especially when he's trying to prove himself here and is having trouble relaxing (despite his smooth comments).
However, I feel like i'm the only one who remembered Loewen's control issues last year... when he was here he was walking as many as D-Cab. Luckily, he's more able to pitch out of jams though.

Who didn't see the balls coming? It's been a staple of the Orioles pitching staff for years now. Just wait until Cabrera pitches. Man oh man....
Jones really needs to get with it mentally. Did Torii Hunter have this many errors on the base paths and outfield this early? Perhaps not, but he also did not get on base as often as Jones is this early :) that's a plus! Hooray for optimism.

For all of us griping about Gameday Audio, I guess we should have been careful what we wished for (It's 12-2 as I'm typing this....)

On Connolly's artical on weather [ did I spell that right ] Teixeira would sign with the O's ? 100% yes times 100. The St. Joe kid would love to play at home. He's made enough money , more then his entire family combined going back to 1492. Pat Sajack lives here cus his wife is from the Park. Shilling's wife is from here but we let him go. Good move letting him go. Roch and Schmuck are from the Park. Schmuck is an adoptee. To finish, yes, Mark would come here.

Nice start to the 08 spring training season. I know its just the first day and we need to lets things just happen, but can anyone tell these so called pros that you have to throw strikes. Again, too many walks. Same story, different year. Hell, let me pitch, I know I can throw strikes.
Please let Cormier and Yan go. No need to have them here.

Roch,
This is actually a good sign today. Now we know Yan and Cormier will NOT be considered for the final 2 spots in the pen so just give it to Burres and Liz. I do not know why we gave these two guys a shot. Cherry impressed today, but this is the beauty of spring as Cherry might give up 6 runs next outing and Cormier pitch 3 scoreless haha. As it stands now I would NOT want Cormier or Yan on this team. Leiceister has MLB experience, why is no one giving him a shot? He turned in a solid outing today as well. Let the spring games begin! What a way to start eh? De Aza = Ruth

Roch, Why did Skippy and I get shuffled back at Rough Start For Loewen post when we should have been placed near the middle of Tough Day For Walker, Too? That's as mysterious as finding out Mike Flynn was released by the Ravens today.

the first bite doesn't make a meal...
give the team a break..let trembley and his staff evaluate the players...
play them all and pick the best...
we will not win the world series but
it will be an interesting season.
