House call
Garrett Olson will have a familiar catcher on Saturday.
J.R. House will be behind the plate.
"I told him I hadn’t done a real good job giving him as many opportunities as I feel I should have," manager Dave Trembley said, referring to House. "I’m going to try to do a better job with that."
It's clear that Trembley will give the younger guys a long look next month after rosters expand.
"I think you take yourself out of the equation and you do what’s right for both the player and the team. And I’ve got to do that," he said. "There are going to be some kids called up in September. I’m not going to play every game like it’s the seventh game of the World Series and not give those guys a chance. I’ve got to give them a chance. That’s only fair. If you’re just concerned with yourself and the record, I think you’re missing the big picture. I won’t miss the big picture."
Steve Trachsel might not qualify as a "big pitcher," but he could be missing soon. Tomorrow is the deadline for teams to set their playoff rosters, and he's in demand. Scouts from the Braves and Cubs attended last night's game and had to be impressed.

Comments
Glad to see JR House going to catch Olson on Sat. Ramon needs to sit a couple of games. He's just not right behind the plate or batting. Something is wrong with him.

GO ANITA!
Anita Marks went off today on her radio show.
I have not been overly impressed with her. Especially when she goes on about Sizemore. Enough already.
But I have to give her props for her response to a caller named Steve.
He essentially told Anita that she had no right or priveledge to say anything positive about the O's because she did not attend games at Memorial Stadium, see Ripken break the record (what, no TV in Florida?), see Eddie hit a HR, etc.
I will not go into the whole response, but he major point is that she is not the type of person to put the black arm-band, mope around the house and manafestly refuse to notice anything the O's do that is good.
She also pointed out that she says when the Orioles do things poorly.
Kudos to Anita!!!

Dempsey, who you love and I do not. Is now the official scorer. Last night he says how hard it is to play in Baltimore { humid weather ] tonight he tells Jim Hemminen how to his job. Please go away Rickey. Your sliding on that wet tarp made you a star. SAD!

Guthrie is looking good tonite...he's having a small problem keeping the ball in the ballpark, that's all
Get 3, give back 4
Is pathetic too weak a word for this year's version of the Ninety Loss Express? It just does not get any better, does it? Nope. You can change the faces, change the arms, change the bats...still the same O's.
Hmmm, perhaps replacing the folks that just left with folks just like them may not be such a good strategy.
I have refrained from clobbering the Flanagan-Duquette FO, but damn, if those 2 have jobs after this season's mess clears up, they might as well give them lifetime contracts and gold keys to the executive washroom.
