Massive confusion
"Don't Stop Believing" is playing on the PA system during the rain delay. I'm afraid that I'm about to get whacked.
Or resume my life, but be really paranoid.
Or go into the Witness Protection Program.
Kevin Millar had one triple since 2003 before his three-bagger -- and no, that's not a nickname for my last date -- scored Nick Markakis in the seventh.
I'm not sure why Freddie Bynum was sent into the game to pinch-run for him. Unless you're trying to execute a squeeze play -- and no, that's not a move I put on my last date -- what's the point?
OK, onto the massive confusion: We couldn't figure out if this would have been an official game if the rain had continued. Official scorer Jim Henneman says it was official and the Orioles would have won, 6-4.
Meanwhile, the rain stopped as soon as the tarp went on the field. Head groundskeeper Nicole Sherry is more talented than I realized. I have no idea how she did that, but nicely done!

Roch, I think it's fairly obvious why they sent in Bynum to pinch run for Millar. I was yelling at the TV, "PINCH RUN" after his triple. Bynum would be much more likely to score on a sac fly. That point is moot now, but you really don't lose much by taking Millar out of the lineup and replacing him with Gomez at first.

So, does Parrish have minor league options left? Yeesh, what a lousy appearance on his part. Can't throw strikes, walking the first two batters, then a double.. and still in... Oh @#$@!!
Single handedly blowing up the lead. Gotta love it. It's a shame the rain didn't stay!

Bullpen, ARGH.
Well, hopefully the next guy can keep the Yankees from going ahead again - at least keep it tied and see if we can work another comeback miracle tonight.
Let's go O's!

What the hell is Parrish in the game for!?! and to face 4 batters. Way to lose the game Parrish. Drop his butt from this team!

I figured at the time that the Orioles could use Millar's bat later in the game if the lead didn't hold up.

Why is John Parrish continually trotted out there to walk the world and blow games? Why is he even on this team? Doesn't he have options? Can't they just cut him? What is so special about him? He throws with his left hand, so he gets a pass for being terrible? Get rid of him.

Why did Trembley put in our worst reliever when we were only six outs away from sweeping the Yankees. This is our World Series and Trembley brings in the future Lancaster Red Rose to blow the lead. And...more rain is coming.

I know it sounds like sour grapes, but this is the only team I know that can take winning two out of three from the Yankees and make it feel like a disappointment.
Just like the rest of the year, it's not THAT they lose... it's THE WAY they lose that drives us nuts!!!!
Having said that, 2 out of 3 ain't bad... it's just that a sweep would have been SO much better!

Roch, Anita ain't a beauty Queen but she is hardly a 3 bagger either.... :-)

I have to agree with you Roch. Taking out any player in the 7th, who's hitting 3 of 3 did not make sense to me either. If it were Millar's last at-bat (8th, 9th inning) it's one thing but these games tend to go down to the wire or extra innings.
Nothing wrong with Chris Gomez subbing for defense but in this case I believe the switch was too soon.
