Thorney issue
Doug Mirabelli was on the field taking early batting practice today when he began walking toward the visiting dugout. A Red Sox fan, part of a ballpark tour, yelled for Doug to come over and sign an autograph.
"I have to go talk to Gary Thorne," Mirabelli said. "I'll be right back."
Funny guy.
Mirabelli actually did talk to Thorne, I'm told. Thorne hasn't been available to the media today, but I'm sure he'll address the issue during MASN's telecast.
Meanwhile, I'm accusing Trent Green of faking his concussion this season.
The Orioles activated Ramon Hernandez from the disabled list today and designated Alberto Castillo for assignment, since he's out of minor league options.
"I'd like to see us keep him," manager Sam Perlozzo said.
Here's the lineup:
Brian Roberts - 2B
Melvin Mora - 3B
Nick Markakis - RF
Miguel Tejada - SS
Aubrey Huff - 1B
Jay Payton - LF
Jay Gibbons - DH
Ramon Hernandez - C
Corey Patterson - CF
Adam Loewen - P
If Hernandez hadn't missed so much time, I'm guessing he'd be batting sixth and Payton eighth.

ROCH, any word on Jaret W's session today and will he go on sunday?
I ll bet when Sammy told Melvin he wasnt in the line up he didnt yell it! He could have whispered it and it would have broke his ear drums.
Maybe a spankin will motivate him to not throw a fit turning one error into two. Unbelievable a grown man lecturing on how he is not to be treated as a child but he gets to act as one and throw a fit on field racking up the errors.
Another case of money going to your head.
We like ya Melvin but its time you "cowboy up"!

Great to see Ramon in the lineup tonight. You've got to appreciate the job Bako has been doing, he was great last night. He was on base three times, and he saved pitch after pitch from going to the backstop. He's a huge improvement over the back up catchers we've had in the past... I'm talking about you Fernando Lunar

Roch:
Why are you ripping on Trent Green? He is truely one of the good guys in sports. The hit he took on opening day was one of the most vicious hits I have seen.

Hi Roch, Good to see Hernadez back....I am sure it will take him a few games to get going...they need his game calling, defense, throwing and hitting. Wonder who would get called up if any catcher gets hurt now.Cool there I see...86 here in FL at 5:40....O's need a win bad...bats are silent....need a mental lift...need to break out and score like 10 runs....Go O's.

Now this is the lineup that I have looked forward to seeing! There’s really no spot that causes an involuntary UGH! I’m curious to see if Hernandez is able to get more out of the starting rotation.
A lot of Perlozzo bashing going on lately. It kind of reminds me of that poster from last year…what was his name? Oh yea….now I remember….damn what an asshole!
Frankly, I’m relatively happy with the way he has handled the team thus far. What I’m not very pleased with are the mental lapses. That's one thing that every player has complete control over. This team needs to be hungry or we have nothing!

WELCOME BACK RAMON!!!!
Thanks Roch for the Trent Green faking the concussion line. It brightened up the end of my work day and allowed me to leave with a smile.
Lastly, I agree with CRB that we are getting into these mood swings way to easily with the day in and day out performance of this club. I know I am guilty of it. We should probably give this whole situation 50-60 games before we start to talk about the quality of the entire team. I think we should continue to debate individual decisions that players and managers make becasue that is part of the fun of this blog. But evaluation of any one person's performance needs to be less knee-jerk. I can definitely say the last few games have infuriated me because I realize that in the long-term the Orioles have to be fundamentally sound, well coached, AND lucky. I am not sure that any of the 3 are looking so hot right now. But tonight's another game and another chance to work our way up the standings.
And for David who only got to watch baseball on the Stars and Stripes, I absolutely appreciate your service to our country but I can't see why that should affect MASN's marketing decision to not offer baseball in HD. That's like saying, "I know the steak at the new restaurant tastes like shoe leather, but I used to have to eat grilled Slim Jims when I was little because we were so poor. So enjoy your crappy steak because it is better than grilled Slim Jims."

Go O's....
So many damn Sux fans in town it makes me sick...
P.S. I still don't like Baez. Gives me the creeps when he pitches.
Go ramOOOOn

He faked it! He faked it! Schilling's a minor league Clifford Irving.

so the sammy bashing continues without any real bashing done by the folks who did the most bashing last yr...Justice, you don't find that the least bit amusing?
They are hungry. Mora scoffed down a plate of food before he left while avoiding the press the other night...Some said they saw him later with his foot in his mouth. Now that's real hungry...

BMoore. I'm with you on Baez; I can't believe the O's are paying him over 6 mill per yr. and for 3 years at that! He's making more than many of our everyday players/starters and also making as much as Bradford and Walker combined!!
There's one signing that we are likely going to regret-he makes me nervous every time he pitches-much like Hawkins last year.
Oh well, maybe he'll surprise us all...
I'm checking in the Fox Sports site as the game isn't on the tube here and boy, our starters need to start throwing strikes. Loewen is walking guys again and the Bosox are too good to be giving them baserunners...
