Adam Loewen

Adam Loewen did a nice job retiring David Ortiz and leaving the bases loaded in the third inning, but I would have brought in Danys Baez. What was Sam Perlozzo thinking?

Loewen already has thrown 58 pitches in three innings. That's just not going to cut it.

He hates the media fixating on negative stats when he's 2-0 with a 3.72 ERA, but he allowed 40 baserunners in 19 1/3 innings before tonight.

And that's what we do in the media - we fixate on the negative.

For the record, I'm putting Curt Schilling's bloody sock a few notches below Kirk Gibson's home run in the 1988 World Series, but I see where it's part of baseball lore.

I still want the whole controversy to go away. It's been milked enough for one day.

Also for the record: I'm typing with a small cut on my left palm after pinching my hand in a closet door. And it's real blood, folks, no matter what Joe Angel might be saying right now.

Love those Amber Alerts!

Must be a slow news day. The Red Sox protests too much, methinks, to coin a phrase. But then, nothing like the media to make mountains out of mole hills.

104 pitches, 5 walks in 6 innings. A couple of nasty bases-loaded jams.

But I tell you what, it's fun watching Loewen mature and progress as a pitcher. Presented with similar circumstances last August, it would likely be at least 5-2 Sox right now, be it by walks or hits. He's worked his way out of it, throwing some nasty "out" pitches. Plus, he's had a couple of really good easy innings where he carved through the lineup. I think the only problem I had with his performance was the walk to Pedroia, the rookie #9 hitter, with 2 outs in the third.

Otherwise... not bad at all.

THAT'S why Perlozzo didn't bring in Baez early. :P

Still, Baez wasn't on his game, so hopefully he'll be back next time.

And while Loewen still had too many pitches, except for the two bases loaded stints (which were solved by Loewen's uncanny ability to get out of jams), he was MUCH better than his previous starts.

I am so glad Ramon's back in the lineup.

If we can crack through with an insurance run I'll forgive this team the last few games.

Bradford for the 8th?

does DH stand for Designated Hitter? I don't think the O's think so.

this team will lead the league in LOB...they get into hitters counts and still make routine outs. anybody got a bat for trade or sale. if this team scored some runs they'd be somewhat dangerous.
