Ed-die, Ed-die
Ed Rogers didn't get much action in left field until the fifth inning, when he caught two straight line drives. As Rogers ran off the field, Melvin Mora waited for him with a huge grin and patted him on the back. Rogers also was smiling. He knows that he's a shortstop playing left field, but he's been fine.
Rogers played left field in winter ball, giving manager Sam Perlozzo more reason to use him there.
"I think it's time now to see what he looks like out there," Perlozzo said before the game. "Obviously, we'd like for him to be able to do other things if he makes the club."
Speaking of Mora, he's a triple shy of hitting for the cycle today. I guess those contract talks are really distracting him.
The Orioles lead, 2-1, in the sixth inning. Kris Benson allowed one run and four hits in four innings, by far his best outing. Some of the outs were pretty loud, but at least they were outs.
Hayden Penn has tossed two scoreless innings. He struck out Kevin Youklis and Manny Ramirez back-to-back to end the top of the sixth.

It's a shame Angelos isn't in attendance...it would be perversely entertaining to see Melvin pull a Reggie Jackson and flip the bird to ol' Peter while rounding the bases...and I don't mean Oriole Bird, either. Of course, that's not the kind of guy Melvin is - all the more reason to keep him in Baltimore for life.

Would be nice to see Ed make the team. Of course do you keep him and Gomez at the same time? If he can play the outfield should help his chances.

Mora needs to remain an Oriole. It's rare today that players want to stay. I heard he's asking for 10mil over 3yrs was it? What are your thoughts? Are we going to see Mora here for the rest of his career?

This is a bit off topic, but I came across an interesting article on Erik Bedard that's posted here:

Maybe reporters just need to ask Bedard questions he's interested in responding to.

The front office got off their high horse and just get it done with Mora....The guy has done nothing but give to this team and community. He elected to stay with the O's during spring training instead of the WBC. He brokered the call to Tejeda. He is active in the community....What does he have to do, give blood to Angelos?
As Larry the cabel guys would say "Get 'r done."

why is it that when most agree Mora is asking for more than he is likely to be worth over the next three years, it is the cheap Angelos instead of the greedy Mora?
