Who's Dennis Dixon?
Dennis Dixon will start his first NFL game because Ben Roethlisberger has reportedly been declared out against the Ravens.
He has played in just one NFL regular season game -- it came at the end of last season in a 31-0 win over the Browns on Dec. 28 -- and the 6-foot-3, 209-pounder completed his only pass attempt for 3 yards.
Dixon slid to the fifth round in 2008 (156th overall) because the one-time Heisman Trophy candidate tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during his senior season at the University of Oregon.
During this year’s preseason, Dixon completed 18 of 35 passes for 180 yards. In two 2008 preseason games, Dixon completed 12 of 24 passes. He ran for a 47-yard touchdown.
Tyler Palko will serve as the Steelers’ backup quarterback, and Roethlisberger will be the emergency No. 3 quarterback.

Comments
Anyone hoping Palko will get in the game, if only for the Flacco/Palko story line?
Ravens need to win big in this one...

We should now really win this game. We of course badly need the win, and I will take it. Steelers are banged up like we where last year and are down to the 3rd QB. Take no mercy, and please beat them down.

Took the reigns from Kellen Clemens for the Ducks I believe.
He is a speedster. Definitely a greater threat to take off than to chuck it. Kordell Stewart-like.
Ngata probably has good idea what he is looking at.

reed's fumble didn't lose the game. offense not scoring did. ed did the right thing under the circumstances.

Ravens don't have anything to wory about. I saw Dixon perform the past two years at Steelers training camp and he STINKS. I am sure you folks remember Anthony Wright....we he is better than Dixon . the man can't hit the side of a barn with a football. Good luck in the playoffs. can't say I will be rooting for you but good luck nontheless.

Don't Steeler fans have their own message board to post on? Or do they not have newspapers up there due to the literacy rate, so you have to post on our newspaper message boards?

steelcity - Get real. If the Steelers win, it will be because of their defense, not Dixon.

Isn't that the same question the Ravens and their fans were asking about Cleo Lemon? You remember Cleo don't you? The Qb who led the Dolphins to their only win of the season when they beat the Ravens a couple years ago. By the way, all the Steve Hauschka bashers out there, last I remember Matt Stover missed a FG in OT of that game and Cleo Lemon won it for the Dolphins on their next possession.

Ask Raven fans how many super bowl rings they have?
Posted by: Anonymous | November 28, 2009 7:23 PM
Hey Anonymous, don't you guys have a board.....if (not a bandwagon) you are a Steeler fan you may be able to find it!

Ask any fan of any team how many super bowl rings they have and the answer would all be the same. Zero. Does your team have to win a certain number of championships to justify rooting for them? Well I guess it does for all the bandwagon Steeler fans that magically appeared in the 70s and more recently in the 00s.

Anonymous: We have one Super Bowl ring, won four years in. Didn't it take the Squealers like 40 years to get their 1st one?

The Steelers have more Super Bowl rings.... I'm not sure how that's relevant, but you're right, why even play the game?? You guys already have more rings, so game over, according to you.
All the rings in the world won't get you into the playoffs this year.... idiot.
Posted by: tom | November 28, 2009 9:08 PM
actually tom rings wont get you in this year either....trying getting a decent D coordinator back here and some WR's (or buy the ones you have some stickum)
Ravens should win tommorow but if they don't with Troy and Ben out, you guys should start scouting for the combine...

Hey you idiots- if the Steelers win, it's because the defense AND Dixon didn't looooooose the game. The Steelers O-line will have to be perfect. Oh yeah... and Steelers Nation is all on a bandwagon... we hide out all over the county... no, the world... until the Steelers start winning... oh yeah, that's like, every year. Bottom line: Ravens fans hate the Steelers 'cause they're WINNERS. They win YEAR IN YEAR OUT. Ravens fans.. what LOSERS!! I'm living in Baltimore- I haven't seen so many Ravens jerseys till this year. Every other year, I'll tell you, you saw more Steelers jerseys, hats, car emblems - you name it- than anything Ravens- and Ray Lewis' backyard!! Steelers fans are loyal- and EVERYWHERE. Lookup "Bandwagon" in the dictionary, you'll find the picture of Ravens fans. I've seen it first hand. Stay underground where you belong. Flacco has an average 26 QB rating against Pitt. The Steelers D is gonna have fun with him tomorrow. HA HA!!! Suckers.

Hey, You guys are the team formerly known as the Browns, so in reality it took you guys something like 50 yrs. ha ha

I'm originally from Bmore, and a Ravens fan currently living in NM and moving back East next week. Their are more Steeler bandwagoneers in New Mexico and more than half don't even know where PA is much less where Pittsburg is. A whole lot of NO fans out all of a sudden too! get the point anonymous?

Bury them!
Posted by: Brad | November 28, 2009 10:20 PM
Hey steel morons...you guys had 7 winning seasons in first 37 years of existence and it took 40 to get first championship. So 6 rings big deal it took 80 years....We have one in 12 years. Its not like your the yankees or any dynasty for that matter...just shut up
Posted by: hutsch | November 28, 2009 10:28 PM
prediction: Dixon carried off the field 2nd qtr

To answer the previous question about so many Steeler fans posting to this site - the ones who post here can't spell Pittsburgh, let alone find it on a map. Therefore they need to go to the baltimoresun.com and post their idiotic messages about the Steelers. It's a wonder an an amazement they can do that much, considering they're IQ is so low.

I have a feeling there will be a little payback from the Ravens tonight. I want that stadium loud and the Pissburgh bandwagoners drowned out.
Posted by: JRC | November 29, 2009 10:01 AM
I once looked at the franchise winning percentage for both the Steelers and the Ravens. They were essentially even, just a little bit better than .500.
I also looked up how many NFL championships the 2 cities have won. Baltimore has won 5 NFL championships (plus a USFL, and a CFL), and Pittsburgh has won 6. Given that Pittsburgh's championships are clumped into 2 small periods of time over the last 50 years, and Baltimore has won championships in the 50's, 60's, 70"s, and 2000's, it seemed to me that Baltimore had the better overall football history.
I'm sure that fans of Pittsburgh will beg to differ.

Marcus,
Ask yourself if you think that the Steelers w/ a healthy DD and w/o Ben and Troy are better than the Cleveland Browns? I think they are and you saw the trouble the Ravens had with the Browns. The Ravens should win but they always paly at the level of the competition so it's far from a lock.

ok pittsburgh fans, you can now go home and shut up!! you were so sure that your team was gonna win well.. what happened out there folks? you terrible towels can now take your towels and wash your tears off your faces as you travel back to steal city HA HA!!!
