Thursday's practice notes

Linebacker Terrell Suggs (sprained ligament in right knee), tight end Todd Heap (chest) and running back Matt Lawrence (knee) did not practice during the portion of today's session open to the media. Like Wednesday, Heap was present, but he wore a baseball cap and sweatpants. Suggs and Lawrence did not make an appearance.

Center Matt Birk (knee), who did not practice Wednesday, took part in individual drills. Defensive tackle Haloti Ngata (sprained right ankle) was also active.

Linebackers Jarret Johnson (left shoulder) and Tavares Gooden (concussion) and quarterback Joe Flacco (knee) -- all of whom fully practiced Wednesday -- were present and accounted for.

Has Birk bled from the bridge of his nose every game this season?

I've noticed that too. It isn't a game until Birk starts bleeding, which normally happens on the Ravens first or second possession.

Is practice open to non-media types?
