Oher acknowledges mistake
Rookie offensive tackle Michael Oher paired with fellow tackle Jared Gaither in keeping NFL sacks leader Elvis Dumervil from padding his season total and generally had a solid day in the Ravens' 30-7 win against the Denver Broncos Sunday.
But Oher was guilty of a personal foul for shoving a Denver player after a Ray Rice run in the second quarter. That 15-yard penalty turned what would have been first-and-goal at the Broncos' 8-yard line into first-and-10 at the 23. The Ravens eventually settled for a Steve Hauschka 35-yard field goal and a 6-0 lead.
After the game, Oher had no argument with the call.
"I pushed a guy in the back, and they called it. You can’t take it back," he said. "It is what it is. Can’t argue about it."
Asked whether he had any qualms about Oher's emotions, coach John Harbaugh was resolute in his confidence in the team's first-round draft pick last April. "You saw it, right? I’m not concerned about it," Harbaugh said.

This guy handles himself very well, he will be a feared tackle in the league for a long time . I believe he is also a quality guy who has his head on straight and plays with great passion. He will not make those kind of mistake too aften and will make much less of them as he progresses through what will be an illustrious career! Keep up the great work Michael, we love having you on the Ravens!

Scott, I'm with you on the questionable casting of Sandra Bullock. I would have liked to see Connie Britton in the role, but unfortunately, Hollywood studios know that Bullock will put people in the seats.
I'll probably see it, but I just wish the commercials weren't so one way or the other. Some commercials make it all about her (to the detriment of Mr. Oher's side of the story), while other commercials (the ones during NFL games) make it all about his story. It's hard to get a grasp of the film's direction. The book was 50/50, but also included a look at how the left tackle position came to prominence in the NFL. I highly recommend the book, but I can't say the same for the movie yet.

For real dudes! You want to talk about Sandra Bullock on this blog? Why don't you all exchange information and meet up for a Tupperware party at Scott's house, or at a local beauty salon, or something.

Oher definately knows how to handle himself very proper with the media. He has been everything and more for this team thus far. I'm leaning towards that he might be the best tackle out of the draft so far.

As far as personal fouls go it was pretty weak. If you're going to make a stupid (but aggressive) penalty, at least make it count. That way the next D lineman thinks "thats Michael Oher, he's a scary SOB."

also, ibg, i felt like commenting on it because i thought it was interesting since Oher is on our team.
plus, this blog needs a little life sometimes, not posters just droning on and on about mattison clayton carr yada yada yada

I'm not worried about Oher becoming a Zeus -- if you know what I mean ...
As for Sandra Bullock -- LOL -- she is detestable. Nevertheless, I will see the movie despite her being in it. The book was a good read.

I believe I read somewhere that Ms. Bullock is the Executive Producer of the film....if she bought the rights for the movie, I guess she has every right to cast herself!

Ever since Oher's public exchange of words with Jared Allen, he's really toned it down (which I'm happy to see). First, he had nothing but positive things to say about Dumervil after the game and now he's taking ownership for the penalty. Oher has a very bright future ahead of him indeed.
P.S. Sandra Bullock sucks. Although maybe in this movie she won't be playing her redundant quirky, free-spirited, wise-cracking female role that she plays in every other movie.
