Mason says Ravens need to correct penalties and score early

The Ravens lead the league in penalty yards (633) and are tied with the Philadelphia Eagles for third in penalties (67).

Wide receiver Derrick Mason said penalties have disrupted the offense's rhythm.

"We can't continue to say, 'They’re correctable, they’re correctable,’ and not correct them," he said. "That’s like saying when a child grows up, as he’s growing up and he’s always getting in trouble and you figure, ‘I’ll straighten him out, I’ll straighten him out.’ Well, when he gets 15 to 16 [years old], you can’t straighten it out because he’s set in his ways. We’ve got to get this stuff corrected and make sure – and it is especially critical in our first drive – that we score some points."

Hey Derrick, it would be nice if the head stepped up and addressed these issues. Instead he says he's proud of hard his team is playing. Is he serious? The team is playing lost just like its coach.

Thats good one. One always need to follow the rules, who so ever it may be.. We cant keep moaning about one thing every time. We need to change along with all the things change.

Mason always states the obvious.I'm thinking Gaither and Kruger will draw some flags and it's a tossup back in the secondary. If the offensive line does'nt play an "a" game then time of possession goes to Manning and the Colts.Too bad to improve to 6-4.

Derrick, you actually get it. What you say is the crux of the whole situation. Saying we need to play better, we need to come out fast, we need to fix this or that means NOTHING.

You actually have to do IT, fix IT work on IT, demand excellence. The coaching staff especially the head coach needs a reality check. Gosh I hope it's not to late. Even if by some feat we win tomorrow that doesn't absolve Harbaugh and Mattison from getting this team together.

This team has shown up way to many times this season unprepared. maybe the players need to take over and get it done.

I wonder does this team ever practice?? Are problems highlighted, is anyone held accountable. Seems all Harbaugh wants to do is play patty cake and utter silly nonsense. Play like a Raven, Mighty Men, What's our name, this is pro football - Not highschool.....

OK Jimmy, sometimes players can play hard and (still) lose focus (and games) just as easily as you can forget words that would fully complete your thought: 'proud of hard his team is playing.' Come on Jimmy, step your game up!

GO RAVENS!

Jimmy, you are 100% correct, the players and the coaching staff look lost, confused and out of place , especially on defense, it is time to stop talking about it and step up and do it, Johnny U once said when he was asked if he had anything to say to the team prior to the game and he said,"talk is cheap, let's go play football" the Ravens need to stop talking about it and start playing football!
