Mason laughs at idea of single coverage

Derrick Mason vividly remembers the team's first meeting with the Cincinnati Bengals because it was only the second time in his five-year tenure with the Ravens that the wide receiver did not record a single catch.

Cincinnati wisely rolled its coverage towards Mason, forcing quarterback Joe Flacco to look for other options. The Denver Broncos chose to cover Mason with one man, and he caught four passes for 40, including a 20-yard touchdown.

"You can't cover me single coverage," Mason said earlier today. "You can't. It hasn't been done in 13 years, and it won't be done. But it is what it is. You try to take advantage of coverages and how they play you. But Cincinnati did a good job, a very good job, the first game at totally taking me out of the game. In the back of my mind, I just need to go into this game, work a little bit harder, find a way to -- if they choose to do that again -- find a way to get open. If not, then other people will be open."

Can another wr get open? Paging Mark Clayton, paging Mark Clayton! You still on the team?

Dude, you obviously have not been paying attention. Clayton and Washington have been getting open. Heck, even D. Williams gets open in his minimal time on the field.

Cam is spreading the ball around. He will attack Cincinnati this time with more vigor than he did in Baltimore. The Ravens score 30 again and leave Cincy with a voctory.

Ravens fans have waited long enough now. At this point in his career, Mark Clayton should be on pace for 1200-1500 yards for the season, along with a 10/season touchdown pace. If not, then he's not the WR this team needs. All the elite teams have at least one elite deep threat.
