Hauschka prepped for 43-yarder against Denver Sunday
Steve Hauschka said after the Ravens' 30-7 victory over the Denver Broncos Sunday that he wasn't anxious about lining up for a 43-yard field-goal attempt after hooking a 44-yarder in the waning seconds of the team's 33-31 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 18.
Turns out there was good reason.
Coach John Harbaugh said the team instructed the second-year kicker to convert from 44 yards "probably 10 times in practice in the last two weeks."
"The Lord works in mysterious ways, and He put Steve right back in that same spot," Harbaugh said. "That’s how you grow. You work your way through adversity, and he’s a better kicker now than he was on Saturday."
Harbaugh was also asked Monday about the possibility of having rookie Lardarius Webb, who returned a kick 95 yards for a touchdown Sunday, also return punts.
"Yeah, but we have a good punt returner in Chris Carr," Harbaugh said. "You will see Lardarius Webb on punt returns at some point, and you’ll see Chris Carr back on kickoff returns at some point, too, I’m sure. We have been gifted here with some guys that can return kicks and punts."

Let's see: Webb and Reed.
To whom else could Harbaugh possibly be referring??

Chris "i raise my hand" Carr is a good punt returner huh? Maybe he will catch one at the 35, with nobody within 10 yards of him and run one day too. I did see him get his second tackle of the season yesterday tho.

Steve looks like a good one for the future. You have to be patient with all the rookies in the NFL. Stover has been blessed to play for 2 good organizations in his career. Good for him;he deserves it. Steve will just have to grow with ours, thru the good times and the bad. That's life, boys.

Is Harbaugh serious? Chris Carr should never be allowed to return kickoffs or punts again. He is just plain awful. I cringe when I see him playing the nickel also. I hate to say this but I'd rather see Walker in that position than him.

I seriously hope he is only saying that Chris Carr is a good punt returner to hide the truth. Carr is atrocious and the only good thing about him fair catching every punt is that it means he's not fumbling it.
Put Zibby in on punt returns now!

no mention of Stover kicking all those field goals for the Colts, I believe the old man was 4-4 off the STREET? However this was the first game where Hasschaka put it in the endzone a couple of times so maybe it will work out for all.
I don't see any upside in chris carr returning punts and barely any on defense. He looks a lot like a guy who got a big contract for his effort in the past and now is afraid to fail.

the "old man" was 4-4 with none of them being over 40 yds... and indoors at home. jan stenerud can come off the street and do that. i'll stay take the young guy with the stronger leg, the guy that at least has a chance to take pressure off the offense and make one from 50. with stover, that chance doesn't exist.
