Webb to take kick returns, Carr punt returns
The Ravens plan to alter their return duties for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals with Chris Carr retaining the punt return job and rookie Lardarius Webb handling kick returns.
"If you’re a competitor and you’ve been doing it as long as I have and had success at it, you want to be out there," Carr said of relinquishing kick return duties. "The more things you can do, you want to do that. But at the same time, you’ve got to know how to be a professional, and if you’re not the guy out there, you’ve got to be like, 'Hey, I’ve got to focus on what I do have. I can’t sit here and pout about this and that. I’ve got to go out there and play 30 snaps on defense and worry about receivers and worry about this and worry about punt returns.' You’ve just got to be professional and go out there and play and support your teammates and support your team."
"I don’t know for sure," Webb said of taking kick returns this Sunday. "I’ve been working at it, but other than that, I don’t know yet. So I’m not going to say something and then it doesn’t really happen."
Carr ranks seventh in the AFC and 15th in the NFL with a 24.5-yard average on kick returns, but he was stripped of the football on the opening kickoff of Sunday's 27-21 loss to the New England Patriots, which led to a Stephen Gostowski field goal.
Webb returned just one kick against the Patriots, but it was good for 38 yards and set up the Ravens' last-gasp drive.

Carr is worthless as far as I can see. Sorely missing Jim Leonard on returns and defense. And Rex Ryan continues to make moves we should be making, like getting Edwards etc. But then we have Clayton, Oooops

Chris Carr is starting to remind me of Yamon Figurs after Figurs took that hard hit and didn't want anymore of that 'fire'. He wasn't the same after that. With Carr, it's not if he makes a mistake but when! Also, if Harbaugh's philosophy is to put the best 11 on the field..I know Nakamura or Zbikowski have to be better than Carr to play on defense.

I was pondering yesterday, after the Browns traded Braylon Edwards, whether they might be in fire-sale mode and, if so, what type of trade package it would take to pry Josh Cribbs away from them. Knowing his team isn't going anywhere this season, maybe George Kokinis would show his old team some love and help us shore up that kick return spot for a championship run. Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?

Hey jamison, remenber what i've told you about lardarius... It's time to unleash the kid... regarding what i've seen about Carr, it's safe to try webb as kick returner... and maybe at nickel position too...

hey bacon, zbikowski and nakamura are SAFTIES, not corners. they would get burned worse than carr ever has if they played his position. also, figurs was completely 1- dimensional as a player, only returning kicks, so dont try and compare Carr to him.
Why is there so much hate towards Clayton? i understand he dropped a very important pass, but people are acting like hes the biggest 1st round bust ever. here are some WR’s drafted before clayton in 2005:
troy williamson (bust)
matt jones (not in NFL)
mike williams (not in NFL)
so, as you can see, we got a VERY productive receiver in clayton, so chill out bmore fans. Im not saying everyone is getting on him, but hes doing pretty darn well IMO.

and jnyu, can you honestly say you want edwards on our team? he drops more passes a season than the ravens do combined. go be a jets fan if you think they are so much smarter than the ravens

trust me, we don't want braylon edwards. the man lead the NFL in drops last year if im not mistaken.

Maybe Braylon was trying to get out of Cleveland, wouldn't you? I've seen him look very good a couple of years back, way better than Clayhands. Anyway, we picked D Williams, remember him?, when Brandon Marshall was still on the board. Win some lose some.

I still don't understand why we signed Carr and L. Smith from Philly anyway. Smith has 1 catch right? We could have kept Ogelsby.

Scott...Clayton was a 1st rd pick. This guy always come up short against the elite teams. The patriots game was the nail in the coffin. He will be an unrestr free agent at the end of the season. Play like you wanna get a big payday with the Ravens....Maybe not!!!!!

As for our return problems. Every since we dealt/release or whateva with Jermaine Lewis, everything went down hill. I truely believe that the plays/TDs Jermaine got for us in the playoffs and superbowl was a main factor for that championship season. Maybe we should try #89 as a return guy?

Signing Chris Carr and Domonique Foxworth is like opening a present on christmas and finding out your mom put your old rusty baby toy in the box......very senile moves..... totally wasting their money and spinning their wheels...Eric Decosta definetly should have been a wall street investment banker.

Foxworth still covers their #1's. Carr just runs straight and is missing the reckless abandon that returners need.
