Harbaugh talks trade rumors and T.O.
Much like general manager Ozzie Newsome, coach John Harbaugh did not say anything to discourage any possibility of making a deal before to Tuesday's league-wide 4 p.m. trade deadline.
Asked if he would be surprised if the Ravens pulled the trigger on a trade, Harbaugh said, "I wouldn’t be surprised. I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t make a deal. We’re going to do everything we can to make our team better any way that we can. The trade deadline’s coming up and if something presents itself, then we’re going to do it if we think it makes our team better."
The next question posed to Harbaugh entailed the report from Fox Sports' Jay Glazer that the club had inquired about Buffalo Bills wide receiver Terrell Owens, who has a contentious history with the Ravens.
Because both Harbaugh and Owens were employed by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004 and 2005, Harbaugh was asked to comment about his perspective on Owens. After a brief moment of debating whether he should speak about a player on another team, Harbaugh had this to say:
"All I can say about T.O. is this – I’m going to jump out a limb here – I’ve got a lot of respect for T.O., OK? Always have," Harbaugh said. "He’s a football player, he practices hard, I think he’s got a really good heart, always have. We have a good relationship. Now is anything happening there? Not that I know of. And I think I would know if something was happening. But he plays for another team. We have a ton of respect for him, and I’ve always liked him and I want to be positive about him."

Wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole, as the old saying goes. Cancer.

T.O. a Raven? I can see it now. Three games to learn the playbook and on the fourth game he destroys the team. Poor Joe Flacco will need therapy until he is in his sixties. Please, someone stick a pin in my eye.

The baltimore Sun needs to stop speculating getting the fans all hyped up. Always talking about the Ravens thinking about getting someone. The Ravens are not gonna pull the trigger on anyone worth anything. I still dont know why they invested money in Dominique Foxworth. He's a nickle back for goodness sakes.

without a doubt T.O. would improve our team as a deep threat but at what price would it cost us?? joe flacco has proven he can make the throws and we have average WR's and a dependable Heap and Rice as well so we dont essentially need a superstar wide-out...

Excellent non-answers John. You've got the talking points mastered. No one is going to get a straight answer out of this guy.

I don't believe it.

Coach likes T.O. and respects him...sounds very interesting...not likely, but interesting nonetheless.

What would it take to get the Bucs to part with Ronde Barber?
Posted by: Baltimoron | October 19, 2009 8:48 PM
Wonder how he'll handle the transition to cornerback
Posted by: jed3d | October 19, 2009 9:50 PM
Ozzie would not bring in a WR for one season, Flacco has grown with these WR and will continue to click all year and the emergence of Rice recently will open the passing game.
Harbaugh sounded open to trades, maybe they snag a corner or some run stoppers.

No TO! What we need is a cornerback and bad, cause Foxworth and Washington can't block!
Posted by: alex | October 19, 2009 11:29 PM
@jed3d -- haha, pretty good observation.
but TO, in this offense? hmmm, very interesting possibility. And I'll tell ya, I don't think he would rattle Joe Flacco. Two years ago I'd have said, no way to TO but now...I dunno, he's had a lot of dance partners...he certainly would add quite a bit to a revived offense.
of course, our real need is a legit pass rusher with insane speed.

@ Jim B..........We have plenty of great pass rushers, we just can't play 4-3 defense and that's what's killing us. We are a 3-4 TEAM and always have been and now all of a sudden, this Greg Mattison guy changed it!! Our defensive coordinator is the one killing our CBs, not opposing QBs!! Fabian is a good CB, but when you give a QB more than 5 seconds, someone will get open. This is the NFL my friend. If you've been watching the games, Foxworth has the speed and he's a decent tackler, but damn, as a CB, I expect my people up front to rush the QB and do something, but this 4-3 defense is not helping this issue and something needs to be done ASAP. We need to blitz a whole a lot more than we do to have a chance of putting games away! We are known as an aggressive defense, but playing 4-3 has made us look soft and has even made Haloti and Buddy Lee look bad. Do I make sense??

He has not been a problem in N.Y.
Give away as little as possible, and bring Terrell on. .
Ray can keep him in check.
If he goes T.O. cut him.

Can T.O play Defensive Back?
Posted by: Will Nufer | October 20, 2009 1:40 AM
Don't we need a D-back (or 2, or 3) before we need a T.O.???
Posted by: Tony in Saratoga Springs | October 20, 2009 4:26 AM
T.o. would be one of the best move 4 bal bcuz one the season t.o. is haveing is not t.o. like flacco would bring the allstar back in t.o. and by that being said that would make bal a superbowl team not a make the playoff just 2 make it team do u people understand look what moss did 4 the pats and look people we got ray ,suggs, and ed reed t.o. can't take the team from ray u not the guy is trying 2 get a ring like ray so we as ravens need 2 make a play think about it we got denvor next they wouldn't need 2 do if they seen t.o. in a baltimore player and the way flacco playing and he gets a wr like t.o. the colts couldn't beat us so. Fan of the ravens and people how are not fan help the movement and help get t.o. 2 be a raven we get him with the running game we got how would teams play use think about that's all I got 2 say the man would do more number then he did with mcnabb because flacco need a numbere 1 not a 2 or 3 like he's got masons good but he can't win u games like t.o. I'm done

I still feel a little bitter towards T.O. when he went to the Philthedelphia Eagles instead. Grant it, it was Boller over McNabb but still. I say we can see a pot of Gold somewhere over Dwayne Bowe. Make D. Williams and another WR as our new CBs and steal Rob Ryan from the Browns for our D cord. If T.O. does come here, I say Ray Lewis can prevent him from being the cancer he has been in the past and who knows, maybe he just might become a team player. P.S. I hate the mullet that is J Allen

Yay, TO to Bmore, again. I remember the first time so vividly. A breezy summer day...that was it. One day. Then he was an Eagle. I don't think the Ravens are going to forget so quickly.
Posted by: Tim | October 20, 2009 8:12 AM
Rhonde Barber? Seriously? We don't play a cover 2 and that is all he can do. The only "rumor" that is intriguing is Dwayne Bowe unless there is a pass rusher available we are looking at.

I wish press covering the team woud stop asking personnel-related questions about players under contract with teams other than the Ravens. The NFL has a dirty word for it, and it's called tampering, and it can cost the club in fines and draft picks. Kudos to Coach Harbaugh for only offering up general statements.

With T.O., Flacco will go from a 300 yard passer to a 400 yard passer.
Posted by: Joe | October 20, 2009 11:53 AM
the overall big pic here is that Baltimore did not give the respect to Rex and make him the coach.Think about it. Rex as head coach the d is still there and possibly Leonard and Scott as well.Don't get me wrong i like john but i think he has to much on his plate.

I was at the game in Minn, & we should be looking for someone to replace F walker & C Carr, Both these guys struggled with the WR's, after walker got burned the first time he was on the sidelines working with D. Williams watching his feet, Seriously this guy sucks, don't blame anyone else for the loss but him, when not getting burned he is getting penalties!!! Where is cmac when we need him??? The team played great except for those 2 guys, Play L webb in walkers spot!!

How about Adalius Thomas for Willis McGee. NE needs a running back and we need some defenders. I heard that AD will be on the bench when Jr. Seau plays this week.
