Dwan Edwards playing way into rotation with Trevor Pryce

Dwan Edwards hadn't started at defensive end since Dec. 30, 2007, as he wrapped up that season filling in for an injured Trevor Pryce -- until Sunday, when Edwards started in place of Pryce in the Ravens' 33-31 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Edwards played decently, finishing with two tackles, one sack and one quarterback hurry. Pryce fared just as well, registering two tackles, one sack and two quarterback hurries.

Coach John Harbaugh said he and the defensive coaching staff wanted to see how Edwards performed in extended action.

"Dwan Edwards, in this game, I felt like more reps were good for Dwan and for our defense because of the run defense and also because of the fact that for Trevor, fewer reps makes him more effective in what he’s doing, especially in the pass rush game. and it turned out to be the case," Harbaugh said. "Trevor played really well. Now we want Trevor to get more reps than what he got, and that’s just kind of the way it shook out. But I was happy. I thought Trevor played very well, and the snaps he was in there made a difference, especially in the pass rush. And Dwan played well."

Dwan Edwards is not a good player. When I look around the league, specifically the AFC north he's not a major player. He's been in the league how long now? 3-5 years and how many sacks does he have? When I look at Pitt or Cincy d line I see much talen

As much as I like Pryce, I think this is a good move. Edwards has been playing well when given the chance. I say they should do the same thing with McKinney.

All of our defensive linemen are average this year , don't know what happened , also a mystery is Suggs , I guess all that money has slowed him down,,,,,,,,the secondary is simply no talent.........

If you think Edwards played well, look at his pass rush on the game-winning pass from Favre to Sidney Rice. He was locked up one-on-one with the Vikes' TE/FB Kleinsasser. Not only did Edwards not make it off the line, he was driven backward -- by a guy who's not even an offensive lineman. Unfortunately, that void left by Edwards gave Favre the space he needed to wind up and take about two steps before launching the deep ball to Rice.

Belichik is shopping Adalius Thomas around...ATTENTION OZZIE ATTENTION OZZIE -
Boston Globe

New England Patriots linebacker Adalius Thomas(notes) didn't get the fun of being part of the tromping the Pats gave the Tennessee Titans on Sunday because he was mysteriously on the inactive list. That was the first time he's been a healthy scratch since he was a rookie with the Baltimore Ravens back in 2000.

The two-time Pro Bowler wasn't even at the stadium on Sunday and he wasn't hurt. It appears the Patriots are trying to trade the fella, according to the Boston Globe.

NFL Network analyst Deion Sanders told viewers of NFL Game Day on Sunday that Thomas was upset and was going to work it out with his coach.

But head coach Bill Belichick basically said Thomas didn't play because his performance was lacking, which has got to hurt when you're the same guy who signed a $35 million deal two years

Our pass rush is so weak..you saw all day on Sunday that when it comes straight at the QB, he just adjusts and makes a deep throw into single coverage....what ever happened to real blitzing? We used to bring a DE or LB around the back side and then delay a safety or LB up the middle to move the QB where the defense wanted him...now the QB sees all the pressure and makes plays around it....Mattison is simply over matched. He is not an NFL coordinator. Offensive Coordinators are finding holes all over his scheme...and Ed Reed needs to help out in the secondary..our corners are not one on one cover corners. He needs to help double guys up. This defense looks over matched and old.

"head coach Bill Belichick basically said Thomas didn't play because his performance was lacking." this is the kind of leadership needed from harbaugh and mattison. par tof what makes belichick good is he doesn't hesitate to bench a player, any player, who's not performing.

The Broncos are coming for the Ravens, we will complete a perfect season at 7-0 and the Ravens are next. We are hungry, we are angry, and we play like we have not eaten in weeks. So tighten up your chin straps and get ready for a blood letting in Baltimore November 1, 2009. You can also place your bets for the Broncos going to the Superbowl and win it, mark my words!!!

meanwhile our 2nd round draft pick sits inactive every week. Edwards is an OK deepth guy at best.
