Brady could have shown some class toward Kolber
It would have been nice if one of Suzy Kolber's "esteemed" colleagues -- Ron Jaworski, Jon Gruden or Mike Tirico -- would have called out New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady for failing to stop and be interviewed by Kolber.
Instead they were falling all over themselves to sing the praises of Brady. He had a career night, but immediately following the game he made Kolber chase him down the field and didn't want to answer her questions. Give her credit for sticking with it and trying to get the interview. She's a pro.
Brady knows he's going to be the one that ESPN wants to interview and he's done thousands of them. I guarantee you that Peyton Manning would have stopped to do the interview. I would hope that Joe Flacco would do the same.
What Brady did to Kolber is the second-worst show of class toward the ESPN reporter on a nationally televised game. Remember Joe Namath trying to kiss her? Brady isn't far behind.
I'm sure the NFL, which receives all that money from ESPN, CBS and NBC, is thrilled that its biggest star ducked the post-game interview. Maybe once Jaworski, Gruden and Tirico stop slobbering all over Brady, they'll notice what Kolber had to go through, and point out that Brady showed absolutely no class.
Imagine if he would have lost the game.
UPDATE: Suzy Kolber explained what happened on ESPN Radio's Colin Cowherd show: She asked the Patriots PR director for Brady post-game interview, which is standard procedure. PR director asked Brady, who declined, but he never told Kolber that Brady declined. The result was Kolber running to keep up with Brady and getting an interview.

Disagree completely with that post...Brady told her he was going in, dont bum rush him right after the game when hes telling the other team good game

Brady has been put on a pedestal by ESPN before the 2009 season even started. I hope the Ravens beat the cheating Patriots down!!!!!
Posted by: Carolyn | September 14, 2009 11:22 PM
I actually thought he was really nice. She was irritatingly persistent and pulling on his arm, and he couldn’t hear anything but he was gracious and still answered her question. How can you say that wasn’t classy?

Who and cares? HE OFFENDED ESPN OH NO! THEY ARE SUCH A CARING BUNCH

Brady has no class just like his coach.
Posted by: MrEd | September 14, 2009 11:56 PM
You are absolutely right. Supposedely the worlds most perfect human can make no mistakes. Tom Brady is just another cocky, arrogant celebrity who thinks he is above post game interviews which take all of a minute to do.
ESPN really needs to tone down their love affair for the Patriots because it is becoming sick to watch how much they love one team over the other 31 teams.
Posted by: Matthew Waybright | September 15, 2009 12:03 AM
This is classic low rent Tom Brady. I don't recall that the little baby even shook hands with Eli Manning at the end of the Super Bowl. I also remember how he was screaming at his receivers for not catching poorly thrown balls in the Super Bowl.
I don't want to see Brady get hurt when the Ravens play the Pats, but, it would do my heart good to see Brady get sacked hard about 15 times in the game.
Posted by: Randy | September 15, 2009 12:07 AM
Noticed the same thing Ron. Brady should have known that ESPN would want an on-the-field postgame interview since it was his first official game back in a year. He was also the hero of the game as well so you would think he would be more than willing to give an interview. Must be the combination of Bill Belichick rubbing off on him and the fact he is getting Hollywood attention with his apperance on "Entourage" and being in magazines every week. I know for a fact that Manning and Flacco would not snub Ms. Kolber because 1) They are class acts and 2) their coaches would not allow that kind of behavior to happen!
Posted by: Matthew F. | September 15, 2009 12:12 AM
Who cares? Those interviews after the game are usually nothing more than insipid anyway. Those sideline "reporters" are stealing money. Speaking of which, it's a tired position that ESPN, et all are spending a lot of money on the NFL. It's a symbiotic relationship. If they didn't show the NFL, they would be back to showing arm wresting from Petaluma, CA and not being able to charge advertisers 1/10 of what they charge for NFL games. They need the NFL far more then the NFL needs them.
Posted by: AtomicDog | September 15, 2009 12:18 AM
ESPN is pretty low on class these days, which is too bad because they still employ some quality people.
Posted by: tomvons | September 15, 2009 12:24 AM
maybe he just had to goto the bathroom have u thought that? and where is the role that they must talk to the reporters?
Posted by: Kris | September 15, 2009 12:50 AM
I thought it was great to see him try and duck the stupid questions that all the network sideline eye-candy grams ask.....
"Was that an important win for the team?"
"What was it like to score ......?"
"What did the coach say at half-time to you?"
These dumb "chicks" are the worst thing about televised football.
Posted by: Juston Freeman | September 15, 2009 1:03 AM
I'm with you, Ron. Brady showed no class in making Suzie hunt him down for a few postgame comments. I GUARANTEE that Joe Flacco would NEVER have done that. Brady is just really starting to believe all of his own hype and it looks like ESPN is now starting to become a victim of its own creation.
Posted by: Drew Johnson | September 15, 2009 1:17 AM
Think you got it wrong. I'd much rather see somebody blow off a reporter on TV than watch some canned response about "playing hard" and "never giving up." If he's pissed, he's pissed. It's a lot more interesting than the typical 30 second jock interview.
Posted by: Richard | September 15, 2009 1:38 AM
What were you watching? I couldn't disagree more. While Brady was trying to avoid the interview and rushing off the field, he very politely said he was heading inside to her and started jogging. Who knows what was up. Maybe he needed to ice something. Maybe he had to go to the bathroom. Who knows, but to compare Brady's hurrying with Namath's drunken overture is both ridiculous and unprofessional. You're creating drama where there wasn't any, all the more so when you factor in that Brady did ultimately stop and answer Kolber's question. It may have been quick, but it was polite and never classless, unlike your post.
Posted by: Adam | September 15, 2009 3:34 AM
We can all thank Leodis McKelvin (or however you spell his name) for giving Brady the chance to be an idiot; he handed the game to the Pats with his late fumble.
Posted by: Macadamia | September 15, 2009 6:03 AM
I totally agree about Brady and how the New Engalnd-based "national" sports cable station swoons over him like 15-year olds, but c'mon, Joe Namath was intoxicated to the max and couldn't tell the difference between being in a Dundalk bar at 1:50 AM and national television. While Brady may have been code Orange on the crassness meter, he was indeed far behind Joe the Willie.
(Those two incidents aside, I would prefer a conversation with Namath than one with Brady. Namath would be worth listening to. Then again, maybe Brady is tired of Brady. Nah, just saw the press conference. He still offers plenty of noise with little to say.)
Posted by: waspman | September 15, 2009 6:14 AM
Brady is just another arrogant athlete. The fans and the media throw fuel on the fire the way thay fawn all over thes overpaid ___holes!
Posted by: MikeB | September 15, 2009 7:02 AM
Jaworski, Gruden and Tirico are tools, they can't call a game, I turn off the sound. The only improvement is getting rid of that jerk Tony whatever now there was a no class act.
Brady was out of line maybe he had to go to the bathroom, looked like all the Pats were close to messing their pants...
Posted by: grey32 | September 15, 2009 8:05 AM
Well put, I watched it and was thinking the same thing.
Posted by: Matt | September 15, 2009 8:12 AM
Ron,
I totally agree. I was more struck by Brady's boorish behavior than I was by the Patriots comeback. Why is Brady getting a pass? If that was T.O. he would have beaten up in the media but Brady gets a pass?
Nice job Suzy Kolber. You are first-rate and deserve better treatment. I assure you when you approach Joe Flacco in a similar situation he will be a gentleman and a professional.
Posted by: Doug | September 15, 2009 8:14 AM
"Remember Joe Namath trying to kiss her? Brady isn't far behind."
Really Ron? Not wanting to do an interview isn't far behind sexual harassment/assault? I understand Brady was probably feeling a whirling mess of emotions at the end of that game and wanted to get into the locker room to share the moment with his teammates - instead of giving the usual useless end-of-the-game quote those sideline reporters get with their softball questions - but you're right, he should have stood for two seconds, even to say he was "going in," rather than making Kolber run alongside him.
All that said, to put Brady's actions last night anywhere near what Namath did is hyperbolic nonsense. Kolber could have conceivably pressed charges against Namath. She can only dismiss Brady as a jerk.
Posted by: Dann | September 15, 2009 8:38 AM
Yeah, what is his problem all of a sudden. First, it was Saban, then Weis, then Mangini, then McDaniels and now it is Brady that wants to act Belichick-like.
Posted by: Dee-Lut | September 15, 2009 8:43 AM
I completely agree with you Mike. Brady is a complete DB. He's egotistical and cares only about Tom Brady and getting his picture on the cover of as many metro magazines as he can. But hey, he's a lot like his head coach and the God-awful city that he plays for.
Posted by: Eric | September 15, 2009 8:45 AM
I'm glad he didn't stop to talk to Kolber. It kind of annoys me that they even try to conduct those interviews. When has a player right after the game ever said anything interesting or substantive. It's a waste of airtime and always ends up being worthless conversation. I'd rather Jaws and the rest of the crew talk about how the game was won through the intracacies of the strategy than some stupid interview

You wrote:

Let me get this straight; Brady not wanting to be "bothered" to do a post game interview isn't far behind a drunken slob like Namath asking Kolber for a kiss? What a horrible statement to write. Poor reporter...an athlete doesn't want to be interviewed (are there actual RULES stating every player must do interviews? I don't think so...but there are laws against sexual harrassment) and his behavior is branded as "not being far being Namath??? Unbelieveable. Ridiculously unbelievable.
Posted by: Say What? | September 15, 2009 8:58 AM
Had a Raven player did that, it would have been plastered all over the place and would be called a low class organization.
But you are correct, ESPN does slobber over him..........
Posted by: Eastside Jim | September 15, 2009 8:59 AM
When you have no class, you fail to recognize the llack of class in someone else. So when did Jaws,Gruden and whats his name have any class? The Bills ain't exactly a contender for the Super Bowl and would really match up against the KC Squaws (Chiefs?)
Posted by: Tom Jefferson | September 15, 2009 9:05 AM
Why is this under the Raven's Central? He didn't want to be interviewed, I don't think you can compare it to Namath.

Dissing Suzy Kolber is like dissing apple pie. And the jokers in the booth should have had her back.

I agree! I like Brady even less now, if that's possible.
Posted by: Elaine | September 15, 2009 9:34 AM
Is there really any surprise here that Tirico, Gruden and Jaws were falling all over themselves about Brady? Really! Every member of the television media is enamored by pretty boy. Jim Nantz either has a serious man-crush on Brady or he is totally in love with him. Tirico and company are just following suit.
When you have that effect on people, I guess you can get away with that sort of classless stuff.
Posted by: Scooter | September 15, 2009 9:42 AM
Are you kidding? Suzy Kolber never asks a good question. Not that the others do; just saying.
A lot of fans gain nothing from hearing these interviews.
"Yeah, it was a great pass for the GW TD". Great, we didn't know that already.
Posted by: Ron | September 15, 2009 9:43 AM
Brady should remember that it is the fans and not the owner of the New England Patriots is the reason he is getting the big bucks . To blow off an interview with Suzy Kolber is in afect blowing the fans
Posted by: Charles S. Imwold | September 15, 2009 9:45 AM
hey... he was probably in a hurry to head home to his ridiculously hot and prego wife Gisele. I think he should name the kid "Randy Drew Brady", after the two men that made his career. Drew for getting hurt and Randy for making him a statistical juggurnaut. Similarly, Bill Belichek should be Western Union'ing Drew Bledsoe money every week for getting hurt and turning his lackluster career around. Bledsoe and the Devil for that matter.
I think those post game interviews are completely pointless, but they are a part of the game. Show some class and stick around to talk to her. Its not like she is a disc jockey at WEEI, she's freakin' with ESPN, c'mon!
Posted by: SHAMROCK | September 15, 2009 9:46 AM
I'm glad someone else noticed this too, Patriots are showing even more than usual that they think they're above everyone. Even Tanner Cooley (Chris' brother) wrote how Randy Moss wasn't so nice when he went into the NE locker room, but I guess that one is a little more understandable.
Posted by: Keith | September 15, 2009 10:01 AM
Granted the slobbering over Brady while excessive and redundant was totally predictable, as are these last minute on field interviews. They offer nothing to the discourse and seem to only justify the inclusion of attractive women to the broadcast.
The same with the feminine sideline intrusions.
Let me know the last time anything inciteful was offered?
Posted by: mricklen | September 15, 2009 10:03 AM
Is it classless for a player to decline an interview? He had just had a highly emotional game and wanted to be with his teammates. Like you said, he's done plenty of those interviews before. ESPN does pay good money for their TV contract with the NFL, but unless the contract stipulates that the QB of the winning team has to grant an interview as he's heading off the field they have no legitimate complaint.
Should he have done the interview? Maybe. But it's not classless to decline. Stop with the media entitlement.
Posted by: Mike B | September 15, 2009 10:04 AM
ESPN is too in love with Brady and the Pats to say anything negative. All Brady did was show that he's learned poor sportmanship lessons from his coach.
Posted by: ravensfan | September 15, 2009 10:11 AM
Who is Ron Fritz and why does he care that Brady didn't want to be harassed by a reporter 3 seconds after a crazy win? She could have waited for the post game press ocnference but decided to promote herself by getting an interview.

I am so tired of the way ESPN kisses up to Tom Brady. They treat him like he can do no wrong. It's the same with Belichick. Brady came back from a major knee injury and they talked like he's still going to be the same Tom Brady. He looked pretty average last night until the Bills gave them the game back. If the Bills won and Terrell Owens did the same thing, there would be nothing but negativity spoken afterwards. They don't talk about how Brady completed all of those passes but couldn't seem to score a touchdown, even though they predicted a blowout. They only focus on the two touchdowns at the end. Anything to make sure they only sing praises about Tom Brady. He's a darn good quarterback but he's not the next coming of Jesus
Posted by: teacherman23 | September 15, 2009 11:20 AM
are you kidding me ron? the 2nd worst thing next to namath trying to kiss suzie...thats crazy. brady was probably emotional after missing a full year and the last thing he wants to do is answer some stupid canned question. i will agree that everyone is on his jock about how "great" he is and its pretty annoying hearing about him all the time. this is one of the first times i have ever stuck up for him because you just need something to write and this is the best you could come up with? put a little effort into your work.

Where does it say that a player is required to talk to the media? To me, this represents to best of Brady. While you are certainly correct more ego-driven quarterbacks enjoy the opportunity to talk about their own success to a national audience, Brady instead wanted to be in the lockeroom with his teammates celebrating his first win back. Would TO ever turn down a Monday Night Football post-game interview after he won the game for his team? You were right, it was a show of class, just not in the way you meant.
I understand why you personally were offended. Journalists survive by access, and thus Brady not conducting a post-game interview is offensive to all journalists because it is a fundemental attack on their profession. This is fair, and it would be fair to attack Brady for not conducting the usual professional courtesy shown to journalists, however, it is not fair to slander his character and compare him to a drunk Joe Namath trying to kiss Suzy Kolber on national television. Be better than Brady, show him some professional courtesy.

Kolber could have respected Brady's wishes and let him be. He said he was going in and she could have said "Okay, no problem." but no she had to run along next to him and pester him, low class.
Why, because she is paid to pester people until they give in. Because Brady didn't want to enrich ESPN by giving up his time to make them money makes him no villian here. I applaud his refusal to do cahrity work for a wealthy corporation.
Posted by: counterpoint | September 15, 2009 12:26 PM
Brady acted like a jerk. Kept running as if it were really that important to reach the locker room in 30 seconds. Kolber should have just let him run away and expose him for the jerk he is

Oh please Ron. Stop sticking up for fellow media and just realize what 99% of football watchers already think: those postgame interviews are the most worthless part of football broadcasts. Have you ever heard anything even remotely interesting from one of them? Every question is stock, soft, and set up for the player to give a cliche answer. OMG Ron, it's so awful that we didn't get to hear Brady say "The game went well." I'll never watch football again becasue of the treatment poor Suze received. :sarcasm

Mike, I agree completely with this. Couldn't believe Jaworski and Gruden didn't have the courage to call Brady out. He acted like a star in "little league" ... ungrateful and not ever a little bit humble. Without that bonehead play (not downing the ball in the end zone) ... Brady and Patriots just might have lost ... they should have lost ... Bills played great .. except for one idiotic play

At least Brady doesn't throw his players under the bus when his lack of success is his fault alone becuase he chokes in big games (see Peyton Manning)

Really?! Suzy Kolber is rude and very cold in person. I have met her. He may have had good reason to not want to speak with her. He also may have known he would be speaking at the podium after the game in the post game press conference. Just because you have a mic doesn't mean people have to talk to you. Ask Bill Belichick.
To compare Tom Brady's snub to Joe Namath's drunken pass at Kolber is ridiculous. Not even in the same league.
Posted by: TAJ | September 15, 2009 4:07 PM
Wow, it's amazing that people think the first thing on Brady's mind after an amazing comeback is what ESPN might want from him. Relax everyone, it's not like him and his friends killed someone before the Superbowl.
Posted by: Shane | September 15, 2009 4:53 PM
Are you people really arguing about the Patriots and if Tom Brady didn't talk to Kolber? Be happy your team pulled out one against the Chiefs. I'm gonna come to your work at 5PM and harass you with questions haha.
Posted by: Mike | September 15, 2009 4:54 PM
Full agreement here, Ron. While these interviews are generally pretty low on the useful information scale, I think the star of the NFL and ESPN should make himself available for a few minutes to the network that is, after all, airing the game. Sure it's not in his contract; that doesn't mean it isn't the right thing to do. And even worse is that Suzy's own colleagues swallowed their tongues...heaven forbid they criticize the golden child. What a joke ESPN has become.
Posted by: Matt | September 15, 2009 4:59 PM
Ron, you are clueless if you think that was rude. He didn't blow past her without saying anything or told her to get lost. He politely declined more than once, and then she starts chasing after him and then he answers the question after telling her he didn't hear her. What more do you want... he wants to get in the locker room with him teammates to celebrate after a tough game. Flacco is a second year player, of course he'll stop for some attention. And Manning wants his mug on every camera anyways.

Relax... The Patriots did not play a very good game and it was pretty apparent Brady was not pleased with their performance. If he wants to get back with his team when the game is over and doesn't feel like being interviewed then back off. Sometimes people need to know when to give it up. This doesn't even compare to the incident with Namath in a drunken stupor. In fact, I can't believe you can even compare the two.

Classless? Classless? That's probably the single dumbest thing I ever heard. Its really pathetic actually that your so desperate to criticize Brady that you call him that. The only person who is classless is Suzy Kolber for trying to interview someone by putting them on the spot without asking their permission in advance. I would have done the same thing as Brady she had NO right to put him on the spot like that. The only thing more pathetic than watching Kolber chase down Brady is watching some of the people on this site idolize that STIFF Joe Flacco. We'll see how great he is when he doesn't have 6 seconds to throw the ball and a three pronged running attack to carry him..
Love,
Patriots Nation

Yea, because New England owes ESPN for blowing spygate out of proportion. If it was up to me, I wouldn't allow ESPN to talk to any NE player.
Posted by: AT | September 15, 2009 5:55 PM
Is this article a joke? How slow of a sports day is it in Baltimore? Are the Orioles not winning?
What readers should be concerned about here is why there is an article about how a competing teams QB didn’t give a formal interview, as appose to an article about how the Ravens are going to try and beat the Patriots this year.
I can guarantee one thing, it’s not going to be because Joe Flacco is more respectful in his sideline interviews.
Posted by: Mike Jones | September 15, 2009 5:57 PM
Two things. No problem about Joe Flacco not doing a post game interview - he wouldn't have won that game. Secondly - it must be a low news day in Baltimore for the "insider to the Ravens" to be talking about the Pats. Hmmm....where does all this media love come from? No idea.
Posted by: Jonathan | September 15, 2009 5:57 PM
Boston Peter, last year our team was in the AFC Championship, while the one-dimensional Patsies were watching it from their couches. Funny how that works, huh?
Posted by: Pokey | September 15, 2009 5:59 PM
You must be joking?! Maybe you wrote blog so people from your own area and around the country would read and reply. I did. You are so far off base. Have some integrity. You are just flat out wrong to compare Brady's actions to Namath.
Posted by: Dave | September 15, 2009 5:59 PM
The fact that this was posted is sad, nothing for the Ravens to talk about after just squeaking one out against KC? Have to repeatedly talk about that Pats?
He didn't just run by her, he told her that he was going in more than once, and he did a post-game press conference.
I see nothing wrong with what he did, was professional and then when she continued to run after him and nag him he did stop and answer her question.
And don't give me this he owes it to the fans and the owner to stop and answer questions to the sideline reporter the minute the final whistle blows, he gave a full press conference after the game that Suzy and all of ESPN could have showed up to had they so chose.
Glad to see that the "Ravens Insider' is giving out such insightful posts about the Ravens, oh wait . . .
Posted by: Tim | September 15, 2009 6:07 PM
I think Tom Brady, like his coach, is a smug jerk. That being said, doesn't he do interviews more often than not? This was his first game in a year, maybe he was displeased with his performance, he did look a little rusty despite the win, and just wanted to get back to the locker room. I mean I don't like the guy but this is not really a big deal.
Posted by: Marcus | September 15, 2009 6:48 PM
I think you should give Brady the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he had stomach cramps and had to go to the bathroom!
There areots of legitimate reasons Brady didn't want to do the interview. Give him a break this one time - he usually does tons of interviews.

Baltimore ought to clean up its own hell hole of a city before commenting on dumb stuff like this
Posted by: eric | September 15, 2009 7:14 PM
Totally agree -- that was disgusting behavior on the part of Tom Brady. You want to be an NFL poster boy and earn poster boy money, then you have to do the interview. Disgusting.
Posted by: Debbie | September 15, 2009 7:36 PM
If there was ever a game that looked fixed, it was that one.
Posted by: Anonymous | September 15, 2009 7:37 PM
And Ron -- why don't you stick to the Patriots' web site? You and Brady belong together. I've lived in Baltimore and Boston. I like Baltimore.
Posted by: Debbie | September 15, 2009 7:39 PM
Ron Fritz, oversensitive hack attempting to make something out of nothing. What has journalism come to when this is a story?
Not to mention--Brady, although he clearly did not want to, stopped and humored her for a second.
Hang up the writing shoes.
Posted by: Brendan | September 15, 2009 7:44 PM
Disagree also... your statement here said it best: "I'm sure the NFL, which receives all that money from ESPN, CBS and NBC, is thrilled that its biggest star ducked the post-game interview"
The NFL receives the money... not Tom Brady. Not many athletes enjoy getting hounded after a game.
Posted by: canhockjmg | September 15, 2009 7:49 PM
I find it funny how people hate on brady so much when hes hands down the the best qb of the century and prolly one of the best all time. Who cares that he didnt want to talk to her. Baltimore, just let it go, and for whoever wrote the article you wouldnt get a job writing sports articles in a real city.
Posted by: Aris | September 15, 2009 8:31 PM
Wait a second....Second worst show of class on a nationally televised game? ARe you serious? Are you on drugs? How about any one of about 100 Bobby Night intereviews...how about Roy Williams saying "Right now I don't give a sh*t about North Carolina..." after a national title game. How about Shaq swearing on national TV after a game, then being told it's on National TV, then saying "I don't care."
I don't remember athletes being REQUIRED to do interviews 2 seconds after the game. And Brady clearly said "No, I'm going in." He told her. And then she chased after him anyway, and instead of just running, he slows down, and then answers her question anyway.
I'll tell you: reporters are unbelievable. They stick up for one another even when they are wrong.
This blogger is way off base. By a mile. And he's just simply doing what reporters do: sticking up for his own.
Second worst show of class ever. Give me a break. If that's worse, then this is the biggest hack writer in the country. (So long as were are in love with superlatives.)
Posted by: Dee | September 15, 2009 8:41 PM
Listen, I agree with you about Brady getting a lot of praise, being a Pats fan, I think he deserves it. He was "blowing" her off to go shake hands with the members of the Bills first, and then to congratulate his teammates. I'm guessing you never played sports if you think reporters should come before your teammates and the other team. And he eventually stopped to answer her, after a win like that you're not thinking about a reporter, but he eventually answered her. What a lame attempt at a blog, you sound like an idiot.
Posted by: Pats4Four | September 15, 2009 8:42 PM
All I can say is I hope he learned.
Posted by: Anonymous | September 15, 2009 8:48 PM
How many of the people who pave posted on this blog have had a bad day and blown someone off or not wanted to talk to them because you were in a bad mood. All of you. how many of you have been hounded by someone or had that one person that always wanted to talk to you and you wanted nothing to do with them.Brady is a superstar and is hounded by media and paparazzi on a daily basis so cut the guy some slack when it comes to almost blowing off an interview. And to call him classless? this man is the model for classy athletes hes not a showboat hes always kind and respectful so i think the ravens insider owes him an apology.
Posted by: BillB | September 15, 2009 9:05 PM
I am a Bills fan (don't worry, I will not commit suicide over last night). Everyone missed one thing. He kept telling her that he could not hear her because the crowd was so loud. And for those of you who think that Kolber is not a good analyst watch NFL Matchup on ESPN. She is really good and has something to say. They will never put her in a "real" color position because she is a woman. I would like to see her as a third person in the booth. Couldn't be any worse than Kornheiser was!
Posted by: Harmon | September 15, 2009 9:47 PM
Give me a break – Brady is 100% class and to say otherwise is ludicrous. Let’s face it, he didn’t play well in the first half, was clearly disappointed with the way the game went and, in all likelihood, was shocked that the Pats had won. If the reporter that wrote the article (Fritz) spent a day in Brady’s shoes (or anyone else that is famous) maybe he would be a little more understanding.
Posted by: Andy | September 15, 2009 9:57 PM
No offense but what did Suzy Kolber think was going to happen here? Like what doesn’t she get? He doesn’t want to talk to you. That cutesy little smile may work on the Joe Namath’s of the world, but not with Brady. Guy wins superbowls and impregnates supermodels like it’s going out of style. Yeah obviously Peyton Manning would have stopped. The guy is a mutant who only cares what the media thinks about him. Brady only cares about screwing and winning super bowls. Media bashes the Patriots again, in other news the sun came up this morning and it is now currently dark.
Posted by: Jared | September 15, 2009 10:19 PM
BAHAHAHAHAHA no class? Just like the ravens defense in 2007 when brady tore their little soles apart on that last drive? What a joke of an article and a waste of time. I can't wait to see what they do this year when he does the same exact thing.
Posted by: Ryan | September 15, 2009 10:42 PM
Morons,
The thing these post demonstrate the most is just how ignorant many of you are.
The man and the NFL make millions from TV. It's their JOB to be avail for post game interviews (on the field, the locker room... wherever).
Because of such, his actions should be a finable offense. TV dollars make the NFL what it is. Brady forgot that last night, and you're idiots for not seeing that.
So go to bed morons..... This was a good blog ruined by ignorant people! Too bad!
Posted by: wayne | September 15, 2009 10:52 PM
1) Has sports reporting in Baltimore gotten so bad that The Sun has to print something like this?
2) Brady spoke to Kolber anyway, even though he couldn't hear anything she was saying.
3) If Tom Brady were traded to the Ravens tomorrow, you would pave the floor in front of his locker with gold.
4) The Patriots used a camera to record what was right there in front of everyone to see anyway. You haven't forgotten it. Ray Lewis is a murdering scumbag. Not only didn't you forget, you never cared.
Posted by: UKenByteMee | September 15, 2009 11:20 PM
Did it every occur to anyone that maybe Tom just had to use the bathroom really bad?
Posted by: drunk richard | September 15, 2009 11:37 PM
This would be a completely different story if the Bills had a real coach. If the return man had just taken a knee on the kickoff or if the Bills hadn't insisted on trying to cover the TE with that slow ass LB, the Brady Fan Club in the booth would of been tongue tied trying to explain how he was outplayed by Trent Edwards
Posted by: David | September 16, 2009 12:19 AM
This is a joke of an article. Reporters after the game are nothing more than a nuisance. If you want a post-game comment, do what all the other good reporters do and get one at the post-game press conference. Its what they're there for.
Anyone saying Brady has no class from this is a moron
Posted by: Jay | September 16, 2009 12:25 AM
He didn't want to talk to her because it was a TEAM WIN. He was very polite and professional. Eventually he felt bad for not granting her the time and he answered her questions. Don't hate on the best
Posted by: BostonManCave | September 16, 2009 12:40 AM
Wayne - Why does the NFL make millions from TV? Because TV makes millions from the advertisements that they sell due to high ratings. It's not like ESPN is doing the NFL a favor by picking up MNF - it is a mutually beneficial deal. ESPN is getting more attention right now from Brady dodging the question than if he had stopped and talked about how well he threw and how much better he is than Joe Flacco. Give it a rest. At least our star players aren't stabbing people and trafficking drugs like the Baltimore Fellons team that won the SB.
Fritz, you are obviously bored with your own team if you have to post this stuff on ours... But look on the bright side - this is probably the greatest amount of viewers that have/will ever read your blog... You should really be thanking Tom.

Well, Love the Ravens hating on the Patriots what else is new. "Cheaters" etc.. You have a murderer at Middle Linebacker and nobody says anything.
Pats will put the hurt on you in week 4. Brady will not only ignore another interview , but he will probably sire a son with the most beautiful Baltimore cheerleader-
(probably not difficult to determine .. the one with the most teeth wins ?)
Hugs and Kisses from the City of Champions.
Posted by: Dan | September 16, 2009 8:59 AM
What a JOKE. If Brady was on any other team, this would NOT be news. Everyone who's calling him classless would LOVE to have him on your team. And the statement that ESPN has a love affair with the Patriots is laughable. They only want to make them out to be the devil of the NFL – they don’t slobber all over them. If Brady had rape charges filed against him (like Big Ben in Pitt) or shot somebody (Harrison in Indy) they’d be much bigger news stories. Get over yourself Ron Fritz because if Brady was wearing purple and black, you’d have NEVER written this complete piece trash.
Posted by: Patrick | September 16, 2009 9:00 AM
If any of you had a clue you would have read that his leg was cramping up at the end of the game and he was running to the training room to get treatment on it. Hey Baltimore, win something and then you can start complaining!
Posted by: Brian | September 16, 2009 9:08 AM
You are commenting on class after having a coach like Brian Billick for all those years? He is one of the biggest losers the league has ever seen.
Posted by: Jake | September 16, 2009 9:13 AM
Let's break it down for The Baltimore Sun since they have no idea what they are talking about.
One quote. "They hate their coach." - Tom Jackson ESPN 2001
3 Superbowls later Belichick and Brady still haven't forgotten that quote. ESPN won't get any favors from the Patriots.
Posted by: Nate | September 16, 2009 10:28 AM
he didn't want to talk to her because he is a pompous a$$... He gets that from Belichek (who thinks the game is about him, not the fans) They didn't win the game on the last play or anything, there was a kickoff, the Bills got the ball back, ran a few plays, etc... he had time to absorb it.
Yes, as stupid as it is, players are supposed to give interviews after the game. At the SB, they get fined if they don't.
Stop for a quick second and talk with her. Even the little Michigan QB talked to the sideline babe after his improbable comeback.
PS- fans of the Foxboro Patriots, Ray Lewis didn't kill anybody, his hood friends did. All that came out in the grandstanding show trial the Atlanta DA tried to hold. He doesn't run with that crowd anymore and behaves himself. Get over it.

Posted by: Robert Pierce | September 16, 2009 11:12 AM
ohh yeah and the Ravens have Mr. Class on their team Ray Lewis...wasn't he a suspect in a murder...but thats not nearly as bad as skipping an interview....right.
Posted by: Robert Pierce | September 16, 2009 11:15 AM
"Remember Joe Namath trying to kiss her? Brady isn't far behind."
You had to be on a Joe Namath level drinking binge to write such an embarrassing article. I am a Ravins fan and can't beleive a respected media outlet can't find a more intellegent blogger. Show some respect for one of the game's all time greats and get a real job. No self respecting sports journalist would make such assertions.
Posted by: FlacoBABY | September 16, 2009 11:22 AM
Brady said he didn't want to be interviewed and he was polite about it. What's wrong with that? This is a Baltimore paper so I get the fact that you hate the Patriots but I'm still amazed how biased and ridiculous this commentary is -- comparing unwanted sexual advances with declining an interview. Get a grip. Brady chose not to give a reporter an interview. That's his right. Members of the media are not entitled to interviews.
Posted by: Fred Garvin | September 16, 2009 11:23 AM
do not be hating on a good qb she had already been told he was going to the locker room and she kept at him.just because baltimore has a bunch of work release players and i think boston has a little more class than baltimore what a dump.ask ray lewis if he is still picking up trash on highway
Posted by: richiesylvia | September 16, 2009 12:26 PM
So Brady had to take a dump. When the Ravens get done with him, he'll be wearing a colostomy bag. So brush up on those questions...he'll have plenty of time.
Posted by: Pat Gangreene | September 16, 2009 1:02 PM

I'll tell you what is classless...this article
Posted by: Boomer, Boston-MA | September 16, 2009 1:21 PM
Just more Patriots bashing...the man just led his team to an almost impossible win over the hapless Bills...Brady is 110% class...goes and gives the Bills a "good game guys" and this fly Kolber all over him. P.S. he did answer her qestion...so next time they win i can't wait to hear what the media or fans pick on us next for...it's very entertaining.

This is the most bias blog I have ever read. Saying Tom Brady has no class is ignorant and makes me think Ron Fritz is only trying to bad mouth the Patriots. Nothing else. If your going to write a blog about how terrible and classless the Patriots are, come right out and say that is your intention. Don't try to solidfy your reasoning by using your one-sided opinions as facts.

Posted by: josh | September 16, 2009 2:18 PM
Media Lesson. These guys are made aware that they have to do these interviews so she didnt just sneak up on him. He could have been hurt as someone suggested or even had to go to the little boys room but someone from the Patriots PR staff was supposed to line up someone else if that was the case. They just dont let anyone on the field and grab players. She was just doing her job. So if anyone should be blamed it should be the Patriots PR staff for mishandling. If the man has to go to the bathroom he has to go
Posted by: Umar (BMORE) | September 16, 2009 2:38 PM
Brady should show some more class? Who on the Ravens has ever shown class in any aspect of life? The Ravens are thug nation and the team is built and marketed around an accomplice to murder. Now that is real class Baltimore. Ron Fritz is a joke.

brady was trying to shake hands with the other team and he did stop and he answered her questions on the way in plus that's why they have press conferences after the game reporters have the right to get in peoples faces and those same people have the right to not answer questions leave the guy alone
Posted by: Anonymous | September 16, 2009 5:41 PM
maybe he should have waited to see what really happened before writing an article about brady having no class, maybe if they had both her he said no to a post game interview she would have left him alone and he still answered her questions so basically this article has no class good job, you fail

A majority of you people are IDIOTS! Did you actually hear the crowd noise? I could barley hear what Suzy was trying to ask Brady and I had my surround sound pumping! you people are LOSERS. You do know how many questions he's had to answer leading up to this game yeah? They complete a huge comeback, he wants to celebrate with his teammates, why the hell should he feel obligated to talk to Suzie Kolber? And he was polite, and in the long run didn't even blow her off. Greatness breeds contempt and you Ravens fans are as bitter as they come. TB12 baby.
Posted by: Steve | September 17, 2009 10:52 AM
i love how people try to tear brady down and always say oh well he's no Manning. You're right he is no Manning, he has 3 super bowl rings. And keep up the "cheating" Patriot comments nothing like beating a dead horse because there's nothing good going on in Baltimore. We'll beat them again like we always do because Brady is the best and Bellichick is just head and shoulders smarter than everyone else in the league. Face it the Patriots are the best. I can see why you guys are all so bitter though.

Posted by: Adam | September 17, 2009 1:27 PM
and I enjoy how all of you ignorant people say Manning is such a class act. Put emphasis on the word act because it is an act. He showed his true colors when he started publicly calling out his coaching staff and whining about it, something you never see from the Patriots because they are run the way a team should be run from the owner all the way to the punter. Keep trying to bring them down to all your lowly teams levels though it really is entertaining. Brady is the best quarterback, and he has a gorgeous rich wife. It's obvious everyone is just jealous of him and you would all be lying if you said you would not love to have the life he does. Get over it Tom Brady isn't going anywhere, he is the only guy in the league that can miss an entire year then only play for the last 5 minutes of a game and still win.
Posted by: steve | September 17, 2009 1:45 PM
All come on. What did you expect from a really "class-less" idiot Q.B. Whether or not she was not told he declined the interview earlier and had no intentions of doing it, it doesn't excuse his arrogance and basic disrespect towards her. A classy guy like Joe Flacco would have politely declined and promised a future interview with her. Just like his coach, Brady will always, always be class-less and arrogant.
Posted by: Jeff Fitch | September 17, 2009 1:48 PM
Honestly Brady is the best quarterback in the league and he is clearly untouchable so i dont understand why all you guy are making a big deal about something so stupid. The guy does what he wants when he has 3 superbowl rings and a wife like who cares. So for all you Baltimore fans get a real team with legit players then talk
Posted by: Eddie | September 17, 2009 3:35 PM
classless? arrogant? really? thats ridiculous. Throughout Brady's career all he has shown was class. He never takes credit for wins, he always puts other guys in the spotlight like a good team QB should.
and don't get me started on the Peyton Manning bulls**t. he is more classless than Brady. every time the colts lose she throws someone under the bus. it was never his fault. someone said above that they are sick of seeing Brady in all the magazines. ya, well i'm tired of seeing manning endorsing something every time i turn my television on. of course manning would of stopped and talked, he never passes down an opportunity to get on T.V.

Is Baltimore so awful & dull that this is the only thing they have to latch onto? How about 1: Tom declined the post game interview & they sent that buzzard to try & pick the bones all the same. 2: He is in the middle of congradulating his teammates & BEING A GOOD SPORTSMAN and telling the Buffalo players that they played
Posted by: Gil | September 17, 2009 5:06 PM

Obviously from what I have read, most of you must be Ravens fans. Poor, poor you. When will you stop the childish complaining and empty excuses? Count the rings folks. That speaks more than Brady has to speak to anyone. This just in... Peyton and Eli just stepped off the porch south of the Mason Dixon line if you want to compare classiness. Who dates the world's top Supermodel, is expecting a child in December, and is still supporting his first child...all the while putting on an extravagant final 3 minutes and two TD drives after a year long, extremely serious knee injury? Half of you who threw Brady down are probably child support evaders. Why don't you try his pants on and see what it feels like to be chased by every reporter on the sports planet ? Ever consider he may be taking a few cues from Belicheck either ? Shows why the Ravens won't win. Ignorant fans are as Stupid says.

Does it really matter if you talk to a reporter after a football game? He is going to have a press conference later anyway. I wasn't aware the game of football required you to give interviews. Tom Brady has been a class act since he has been in NE. He even took a pay cut a few years ago to make sure everyone they wanted could get paid, and you know what happened? He won a superbowl.
And the reason ESPN fantasizes about new england is because they are the best franchise in the country. Since the turn of the century New england has been almost half of the superbowl games, and no other team can say that. If you want to talk about teams doing it in the past. In my oppinion none of those teams could hold a candle to any of the top 10 teams in the NFL today. The game has been changing rapidly and the athletes that are now playing the game literally make it dangerous to play. Not only are they all 250 pounds, but they are running faster than the little free safeties of 10 years ago.
So if you want to talk class, or even want to talk about just who has the better team. Just watch the pats game's and maybe you will learn a little something. There is a reason why patriots fans don't even care that they cheated. It is the spirit of winning, at all costs. At the end of the day on that football field... do you say i hope the other guy liked me? or is it the scoreboard that matters.

Ravens fans need to focus on saving their crumbling season and not stupid post game interviews. I don't give a crap about Suzis's interview, I am sure all of us have been snubbed at some point while we are working. Suck it up!

Remember when the Patriots beat the Ravens, to keep their perfect regular season record alive? That was awesome! Thanks for calling that timeout on 4th down....... Our coach would have NEVER done that, no matter how much you hate him or us! I Bill we trust!!
