Rolle has a chance to play this season
Samari Rolle will start the regular season on the physically-unable-to-perform list, but coach John Harbaugh said the veteran cornerback could help the Ravens "down the stretch."
Rolle, who has been sidelined all training camp and the preseason with a neck injury, talked to Harbaugh and general manager Ozzie Newsome on Monday and expressed his intentions to play this season. He is expected to have "more work done on the neck to try to shore it up a little bit in there," Harbaugh said.
By starting the season on PUP, Rolle will miss the first six weeks of the regular season. Rolle can then return to practice, and the Ravens have a three-week window to either activate him on the 53-man roster or place him on injured reserve.
"Samari has a chance to come back and play this year," Harbaugh said Monday. "I think when the time comes, we’ll be safer than we are at risk. If there’s any risk at all, he won’t play. But if there’s no risk, then he’ll have a chance to help this team down the stretch.
Harbaugh added "So he was real excited about it. I think he was feeling that it was going to go the other way, I think I was feeling that it was going to go the other way, and it’s good news."

Do yo think that this is a new condition, or is this an aggravation of the previous injury that wasn't anticipated in th physical when he signed this summer? Doesn't it seem like a waste of money to have re-signed him only to have him sidelined by the same (?) injury!?

I'm afraid his playing days are over. He's slower and is more easily hurt these days. He's been on out more than he's been playing the past few years and has gotten burned plenty. Time to cut the strings with him and find someone new.
